Term 3!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year!

Below you will find an overview of the plan for each curriculum area throughout term 3.

Literacy

The pupils will continue to complete spelling activities every day. They will receive their spelling phonemes (sounds) and their words on a Monday. We review this in class and go over definitions.  Each day we will complete an activity to consolidate the taught sounds. Homework is also giving out on a Monday,  this should be completed and returned to school on a Friday. Common words will be practiced at school, but should also be reviewed at home.

Sounds/ words will be uploaded on Blog weekly.

Pupils will get 1/2 books a week. They will take this book home on a Monday and it should come back inside their bookbag everyday! The pupils will be heard reading in their reading groups/ individually on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.  In addition to reading in class, pupils will be completing Reflective Reading comprehension that will focus on skills  like inference, summarising, understanding, grammar and reflection.

In writing we are focusing on writing poetry and informative writing, while also working on our targets and general grammar. Our focus for grammar this term is using more ambitious vocabulary and expanding sentences so they are more advanced. In addition to consistent practise of basic sentence structure.

Numeracy and Maths

Topic maths is a continuation of time, estimation and rounding.  Moving on to chance and uncertainty, fractions, decimals and percentages and expressions and equations.

We will be looking at time values – seconds, minutes, hours, sequencing months and linking to the appropriate season and telling the time for hours, half hours, 5 minute intervals and minute intervals on analogue and digital clocks. We will estimate quantities and position of numbers and also round to the nearest ten, hundred and thousand.
