Summer Term Project in PE

Bearsden Academy, Glasgow have linked with Secondary Schools across Scotland to share resources and allow students in different schools to compete against each other with the results of participation shared at the end of each week.

What’s the project all about?

Over the remaining 6 weeks before the summer holidays you are going to take part in a task which will improve your performance in an area of your choice. (You will choose from 6 options) It will involve you taking part in at least 2 sessions a week (like your normal PE timetable).

How does this fit in with the PE curriculum?

Not only will it build upon your wellbeing, physical competencies, cognitive skills and physical fitness but it will challenge you to work on the following Personal Qualities: Determination, Problem Solving, Creativity and Motivation.

How will it work?

You will use the ‘cycle of improvement’ to complete this project. This experience will prepare future candidates for N5 and Higher PE. You will gather data, find out where your performance lies, develop this, monitor how you are getting on and then evaluate how successful you’ve been.

Open the attached excel document and watch the ‘cycle of improvement’ video and then carefully make your choice of activity. Then decide the level you should participate at. If you find things too difficult or too easy you can easily change levels.

Don’t forget to complete your training diary after each training session. Always type Campbeltown Grammar as the name of school here and click submit.

If you have any problems please get in touch and we will endeavour to help you out. stuart.mcquaker@argyll-bute.gov.uk

We will still post additional fun challenges on the PE Department Instagram @cgspe and Twitter @cgs_sports
