1) Why did you pick this subject and how did you get advice and support?

A: Enjoyed it in S3, own choice to carry on the subject.

A: Picked it up because it was fun and enjoyed it in S2 and S3.

A: Didn’t need to pass any tests, just wanted to do it.

A: Yes.

4) What kinds of topics do you cover?

A: Theory and practical.

A: Practical woodwork mostly and newly introduced theory.

A: Practical and theory work.

5) What has been your favourite topic and why?

A: Practical, get to make things and take them home when finished.

A:  Making the clock (final project).  There’s a lot to it and it’s interesting to see how all the parts are made.

A:  Doing the clock and working with a more complicated project, more hands on, don’t need to write as much as other subjects.

6) What kinds of learning activities have you done?

A: No learning activities, learnt to use some tools and how they work.

A: Woodwork.

7) What kinds of skills does this subject help you to develop?

A: How to use tools safely and how not to use them, future skills for future jobs.

A: Working with different tools, theory skills.

A: Future jobs in carpentry and building.  General future experiences.

8) What is the homework like?

A: Not a lot of homework, some revision.

A: Revision for prelim/exam.

9) What kinds of tests or assessments do you have?

A: Don’t have any assessments.

A: Internally assessed.

10) What kinds of careers could this subject lead to?

A: Construction, carpentry, building and furniture making.

A: Joiner, builder, carpenter, practical work, engineering.

A: Joinery/building etc.

11) What would you say to someone who is thinking about picking this subject next year?

A: If you enjoy it just go for it, it’s a break from other subjects at school and is overall an enjoyable subject.

A: Enjoyable, fun and a break from other subjects.

A: Good experience, fun, break from constant class work, rewarding, generally a good skill to have for future career.
