  • Makaton Fun!

    The whole school is learning Makaton this year as part of our Rights Respecting Schools journey to Gold. Makaton is a UK-based language program that uses a combination of speech, signs, and picture symbols to help people with learning and communication difficulties to communicate and understand.   Learning Makaton helps children understand who cannot communicate verbally, but it also helps all children with their understanding and communication, so it is very inclusive.   • Maths Week Scotland

    For maths week Scotland this year we were looking at the theme of Wild Maths along with Fin Finity, the Maths Week Scotland Mascot. In ELC they packed some snack and headed round to the secret garden for a swing in the hammock and to play some number games. The children love playing hide and seek in the garden so they hid all our number spoons round the garden and had to find them. They even hid with their numbers which was also super fun 🤩 we love numbers! Primary 1 and 2 went on wild adventures with Fin Finity.

  • Elle McNicoll School Visit

    Today we had a significant guest come and visit us. This special person was none other than Elle McNicoll. Elle McNicoll is an author born and raised in Edinburgh. She is mostly known for writing fictional books about neurodiverse people, her most popular book is called ‘A Kind of Spark’ this was her first book and is based on an autistic person called Addie. She has written seven books in total: A Kind of Spark, Role Model, Like A Charm, Like A Curse, Show Us Who You Are, Keedie, Some Like It Cold, The Trouble with Nina, A Gilmore of Change and Wish

  • Very Good Work!

      On the 17th of June Port Ellen ELC were visited by the Care Commission for an inspection of their early years provision in school.  We are proud to announce we received all level 5, Very Goods across the board! Glow Blogs Update 30 Sep 2025

Glow Blogs has been updated to WordPress 6.8.2. This update is mostly a behind the scenes one, you might not notice much difference.

PDF problem

An issue with pdf uploaded to Glow Blogs has recently developed. Our developers are looking at the issue to create a fix. The issue is that pdfs uploaded to Glow Blogs are ‘truncated’ to one page. We hope this is fixed soon. There are a few workarounds you can use in the meantime.

This release contains a couple of improvements and some general updated. The Ability to edit CSS has been restored. There is a new Contact Form Block for Block Themed sites.
