Bird Spotting

Hello everyone.

I have recently noticed that there are lots of birds in my garden.           I wonder how many you can either see or hear in your garden or if   you are out on a walk.                                                                                             Here are some that I have spotted in my garden:

If you find any birds that you do not recognise why not have a look on the RSPB website.

https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/identify-a-bird/

Or to identify the bird songs:

Why not try making some binoculars to help you spot them.

You will need:
2 toilet roll tubes or similar cardboard tubes,                                              Sticky tape,                                                                                                                  Scissors,                                                                                                                                Piece of string, wool or ribbon,                                                                            Stickers, pens or anything you have at home to decorate.

Use the sticky tape to join the two tubes together.Carefully make two small holes using the scissors                                       (It might be a good idea to get an adult to help with this).

Carefully thread the string through the holes and tie or stick              on the inside of the tube.

Decorate however you fancy. Now you have your binoculars to help you look out for birds.

Happy Bird Spotting!

Homemade play dough recipe.

Hi, why not try making your own play dough at home and have some fun making your own models. Also if you’ve found any sticks, leaves, pine cones or flowers when you’ve been out on a walk you could always add these to your creations too.

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/4  cup of Salt
  • 1 tea spoon Vegetable oil
  • Food colouring ( if you want it coloured)
  • Scent ( if you want it to smell nice)

How to make:

Step 1 : Place the flour and salt in a bowl

Step 2  :In another bowl mix water and food colouring

Step 3 : Mix the 2 bowls together and stir well, keep adding flour if it gets too sticky

Step 4 : Add vegetable oil at the end and store it in a container.

Just a note this play dough recipe can last for a few weeks.  You can store it in the fridge once the kids are done playing with it.

             TEDDY BEAR, TEDDY BEAR

Teddy bear, teddy bear, turn around,                                                                       Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch the ground,                                                                Teddy bear, teddy bear, reach up high,                                                                      Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch the sky,                                                                     Teddy bear, teddy bear, bend down low,                                                                  Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch your toe,                                                                        Teddy bear, teddy bear, go to bed,                                                                       Teddy bear, teddy bear, rest your head,                                                                  Teddy bear, teddy bear, turn out the lights,                                                              Teddy bear, teddy bear, say “good night .”

Something to try at home :

Counting the bears on your fingers up to 5 and from 5 back down to zero.                                                                                                                              Discuss the words that rhyme, and maybe try making up some rhyming words of your own.                                                                                          Try adding some actions when you say the rhyme Teddy bear, Teddy bear.
