P3/2 share their Fairtrade fun and Area challenge!

P3/2 have had another busy week. We have been learning more about Fairtrade and celebrating Fairtrade fortnight by writing our own poems and taking part in a big Fairtrade breakfast. We enjoyed taking part in the Fairtrade quiz- Do you know how many bananas are eaten in the UK each year?

We have also been learning about measuring the area of shapes and objects and have used counters and squares to calculate, investigate and draw areas.

We worked with a partner to measure the area of our hands and feet and sorted them from greatest to smallest.

On Thursday, we were set a challenge from a special fairy visitor to our classroom. We measured the correct area to create a fairy and elf picnic, including a picnic blanket, cup, plate, apple, cake and sandwich. The faries loved our work and left us a special thank you beside our fairy door! How exciting!

P3/2 had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day on Thursday. We created some fantastic potato characters…A huge well done to all those children who took part!

We also enjoyed creating book token designs and bookmarks and had the opportunity to do some paired reading with our friends.

Today, we performed a Scots story or personal account of our favourite book in assembly in front of the whole school! It was great fun having the opportunity to share our learning.

We have also been taking part in fairtrade fortnight and created some fairtrade artwork, using fairtrade colours and images. Today, our class brought in 10 fairtrade snacks for playtime! Well done!

P3/2 have re-located!

This week has been a very busy week for us and we have successfully moved into our new classroom. It’s looking great and the children worked very hard to help with the planning, design and layout. Well done!

We have been learning a little more about Romans this week and are looking forward to our visit from a Roman solider and our feast next week.

Please remember to bring an old pillow case in for your Roman costume!

Have a lovely weekend!

P3/2 have had a busy week!

We have had a super week in P3/2 this week with lots of exciting learning going on.

We enjoyed our Grandparent Day and would like to thank everyone who was able to join us. It was great fun!

On Thursday, we visited the National Museum of Scotland to learn about the Romans. We looked at lots of interesting artefacts and enjoyed exploring the museum in our groups. The trip was a huge success and the staff, pupils and helpers enjoyed the day!

We have been learning a new skill in maths this week and have been estimating numbers. We even managed to estimate Mrs Cameron’s age!!!

We have been developing our knowledge of alphabetical order and using a dictionary this week and have enjoyed lots of active learning opportunities to practise these skills.

We are currently moving class and will be in our new classroom on Wednesday when we return after the February break. It will be very exciting!

Have a lovely February break!

P3/2 learning and achievement

A huge well done to all of the P3/2 pupils who recieved certificates in assembly today.

Our achievement certificates were presented to Lucas, Finn, Eilidh and Heidi. Our Scots Poetry certificates were awarded to Josh, Arran and Sara.

This week we have been very busy exploring and investigating man made and natural materials in our school environment. We visited the nursery playground as an outdoor learning experience and found lots of examples of each.

We enjoyed learning about the customs and traditions of the Islam festival of Eid  and created lanterns, cards and hand art as part of our learning. We can’t wait to display our beautiful work in our new classroom!
