Health and Wellbeing

Physical

Make a snow angel – lie in the snow, move your arms up and down and your legs out and in to create an image of an angel in the snow. You could take your family with you!  You could also sprinkle the sections of your snow angel with peanuts, bread, sunflower seeds or bird seed to create an attractive way to help the birds survive the weather.

Practise your throwing and catching skills with some snowballs (not at the windows though!)  You could make targets to hit and award points for the best throws.

Have you built a snowman? Try throwing his hat onto his head like a game of hoopla.

Keeping Safe

Write a list of all the supplies that you need at home to keep yourself safe and well during winter time.

Use a small box to make a ‘survival in your car kit’.  Draw or make (perhaps with play-doh) all the things that you think would help you to cope if you were to be stuck somewhere in your car.

Can you help out your community? Ask an adult if there is anyway that you could help others e.g. Collect some shopping for older neighbouts, clear paths, or even share a nice warm drink with someone who would appreciate the company whilst being stuck at home.

Make a poster to give advice to others on how to stay safe, warm and healthy this winter.

Winter food

Write a menu for a cafe that will offer healthy, tasty food that keeps you warm during winter.  You might want to research some recipes online.  Each item must have a name, a description of the food it contains and a price that you think would be fair.

Nature

Visit the Woodland Trust website to access lots of activites, puzzles and games about winter. http://www.naturedetectives.org.uk/download/winter/

Take a walk and identify the different markings in the snow.  What could they be? Footprints, tyre tracks or a type of animal?
