Snow sculptures – Whitdale Zoo Challenge!
Once you’re bored of building snowmen and igloos, how about you build a snow animal! Take a photograph and upload it to the blog to share your good work.
Let’s see if we can build a Whitdale Snow Zoo.
Paper Snowflakes
Resources: Paper, scissors, white tempera paint, dish detergent, toothpicks and marshmallows.
Fold a piece of white paper several times, then make a variety of cutouts along the folds. Open up the piece of paper and it’s a snowflake!
Snow Scene in a Jar
Resources: Small empty jar ((like a baby food jar), clear glue, small plastic toy animal, white stones, big pieces of gravel, a plastic tree etc, glitter and water.
Ask an adult to help you to glue the rocks and the animal to the bottom of jar. Fill the jar with water and spoon in some glitter. Finally use some glue to stick the lid onto the jar.
Shake to make it snow!
Make a model Sleigh
Use cardboard boxes and other household junk to make a model sleigh for your favourite toy/teddy. Make sure it has secure sides, some reins and a nice comfortable seat!
Window Snowflakes
Ask an adult if you are allowed to decorate your windows with painted snowflakes. Use white tempera paint with a squirt of washing up liquid (to make it easier to wash off the windows later). Using a paint brush or the corner of a sponge make snowflake designs.

How To Play: Divide any players into teams. The first player up draws a slip of paper from a box and reads it silently. The player must then draw clues as to what was on their paper and by so doing get their team to say what it is. If the playing team guesses correctly, before the timer runs out, they get two points.
If the playing team cannot guess correctly, before the timer runs out, the opposing team may take one guess. If the opposing team guesses correctly they get a point and the playing team loses a point. Most points wins.
