When you are unable to come into school/nursery – you can still be active. Why not join in with The Body Coach on Youtube each day at 9am to participate in some Physical Activity.

Leivi – We have been writing postcards.
Findlay – In Numeracy we have been practicing switchers and creating fact families.
Josh – We used ICT to create our own superheroes and made these into tray labels.
Maris – We were imagining we were superheroes and writing poems about ourselves using similies.
Callum – We were discussing what our “future self” might do as a job and recording this using Skitch or Comic Life.
Staff and pupils at Westfield would like to thank Mr Khan for giving up some of his precious time to come and talk to us during our health event.Mr Khan gave a talk to the pupils about his job and how he came to work as a chef. He had also taken the time to prepare a curry dish for the children to sample. He spoke about the creativity involved in being a chef and the variety of flavours that can be created mixing spices.
Another successful health week event which nearly passed without the rain calling off play.Pupils, parents, careers and friends joined us today in the school grounds to have a healthy picnic lunch. The sun shone for nearly the whole picnic before we were covered by a cloud and had to retreat into the hall to finish off. Thanks to all who attended and made it such a success.
Pupils from Westfield today had their sports day where they participated in house teams. The weather held out until shortly before lunch time when we gave into the rain and retreated indoors after a few of the race events. Once inside, we quickly tallied the points from both sessions to discover this years Sports Day Salver winners. Ferguson were the successful champions this year closely followed by Stuart and Liddell.

We decided to take advantage of the sunshine while it’s still here – despite a little gust of wind every now and then and go outside and succeed together in our maths. We demonstrated our understanding of equivalent fractions with sticks and consolidated our multiplication facts using leaves as inspiration for the calculations. We also explored some problem solving activities involving volume and shape. We all worked well together to try and meet each of the challenges.
We attended a cross country event with other P6 Pupils from schools across West Lothian. We ran completed a course around Linlithgow Peel and there were trophies awarded for first, second and third place for both boys and girls. The weather was nice and we had lots of fun taking part.
Today we were discussing and researching the information contained on food labels. We discovered that certain information must be included by law and how the laws about this have changed. We will now go on to learn more about how we as consumers can use this information to help us make informed decisions about what we eat. We also measured out,as a group, what we thought was a recommended portion size of muesli….. we were quite surprised by what constituted a recommended portion compared to what we had served ourselves. #portioncontrol
