Cut Out Mask Instructions

How to Make a Cut-Out Mask

  • Making a mask will help you learn how to measure.

You will need:

  • Paper plate or cardboard (e.g from a cereal box)
  • Wool or string
  • Pens, paint or coloured paper to decorate

You will need to measure the distance between your eyes, nose and mouth.

  1. Measure the distance between your eyes by holding a length of wool in front of your face. Stretch the wool from the middle of one eye to the middle of the other.
  2. Lay the wool in the middle of your mask and mark each end.
  3. Measure the length of your nose. Hold a length of wool from the middle of your eyes to the bottom of your nose.
  4. Mark on mask.
  5. Measure from the bottom of your nose to the middle of your mouth.
  6. Mark on mask.
  7. Ask an adult to help you cut holes where you have marked the eyes and mouth.
  8. You can cut a hole for your nose or make a flap by leaving one edge attached to the mask.
  9. Make small holes each side of your mask and thread wool or string through them and knot at one end.
  10. Decorate your mask.
  11. Wear and have fun!
