Strain and put to one side to cool.<\/li>\n<li>Assemble your ingredients in containers \u2013 we used some nice bottles I found in Flying Tiger along with some beakers from a science set.<\/li>\n<li>Think up names for the different ingredients. Have a look at the book for inspiration or come up with your own!<\/li>\n<li>Start by giving each child a jar containing some cabbage water.<\/li>\n<li>Allow them to add ingredients as they wish, EXCEPT for the vinegar\u2026save that until last.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoys their oohs and aahs as their dream potions change colour!<\/li>\n<li>When their dreams are \u2018ready\u2019 allow them to add the vinegar (\u2018liquid imagination\u2019, I think we called it). Make sure you have a tray or a mat underneath! Place them in a small cup or container.<\/p>\n<p>Fill a glass about 3\/4 full with vegetable oil. Then pour in the coloured water until\u00a0the liquid in the cup is about 5cm from the top.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t want it to overflow! Well, unless you want to turn it into an eruption experiment too. You could use felt pens if the tub is white but this won\u2019t show up on a clear tub once filled with soil.<\/p>\n<p>Fill the tub to just below the top of the tub with soil.<\/p>\n<p>Press the grass or cress seeds lightly into the soil and water.<\/p>\n<p>Place the tubs in a bright area and watch them begin to grow. (Be sure to use a microwave-safe bowl and handle carefully).<\/p>\n<p>Stir and then knead in your icing sugar and cornflour in equal amounts, until the gummy bear slime forms a cohesive dough\/slime consistency.<\/p>\n<p>The more you add, the less sticky the slime will be \u2013 but also the more you add the thicker and less stretchy it will be, so try to find that perfect sweet spot.<\/p>\n<p>Children love to smoosh, squish, stretch and taste this delicious gummy bear slime!<\/p>\n<p>Adding the coconut oil makes it more stretchy. It&#8217;s quick enough to hold a young child&#8217;s attention\u00a0and you only\u00a0need a few storecupboard ingredients.\u00a0Little hands\u00a0can play with the results straightaway, so there&#8217;s immediate gratification for all involved!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Makes\u00a0<\/strong>1 coloured ball<br \/>\n<strong>Prep<\/strong>\u00a010 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>You will need<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>8 tbsp plain flour<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp table salt<\/li>\n<li>60ml warm water<\/li>\n<li>food colouring<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp vegetable oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"scroll-wrapper\">\n<div id=\"scroller\">\n<div class=\"container-wrapper\">\n<div id=\"container\" class=\"container main-container\">\n<div id=\"main-content\" class=\"row main node-type-guide grid-padding\" role=\"main\">\n<article id=\"node-6392556\" class=\"node node-guide node-full clearfix\">\n<div class=\"content col span8 odd\">\n<div class=\"wysiwyg-enhanced clearfix\">\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p>1. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. In a separate bowl mix together the water, a few drops of food colouring and the oil.<\/p>\n<p>2. Pour the coloured water into the flour mix and bring together with a spoon.<\/p>\n<p>3. Dust a work surface with a little flour and turn out the dough. Knead together for a few minutes to form a smooth, pliable dough. If you want a more intense colour you can work in a few extra drops of food colouring.<\/p>\n<p>4. Store in a plastic sandwich bag (squeeze out the air) in the fridge to keep it fresh.
