Staff have received training and we have written a breastfeeding policy for the nursery (see here <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/public\/weedeans\/uploads\/sites\/3030\/2018\/04\/BREASTFEEDING-FRIENDLY-NURSERY-Policy.docx\">BREASTFEEDING FRIENDLY NURSERY Policy<\/a>\u00a0, in the policy section of the Blog and also in the Parent Folder on the shelf in foyer). <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">It is known that breastfeeding can have enormous benefit to the health of both the mother and the child. However, as well as \u201cknowing the benefits\u201d, supportive environments are needed to enable and support breastfeeding. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">At Deans Nursery we: <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"margin-bottom: 1.75pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">\u2022 Use positive and culturally appropriate images of breastfeeding <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"margin-bottom: 1.75pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">\u2022 Avoid materials which promote artificial feeding. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"margin-bottom: 1.75pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">\u2022 Provide appropriate education and training for staff to enable them to promote, protect and support breastfeeding. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"margin-bottom: 1.75pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">\u2022 Increase awareness of sources of support and information for breastfeeding families. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\" style=\"margin-bottom: 1.75pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">\u2022 Provide a welcoming atmosphere for breastfeeding families and to encourage breastfeeding in the public areas of the establishment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">\u2022 Support informed choice in relation to infant feeding. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently we have been focusing on how we can promote a breastfeeding friendly culture in our nursery.
