Thanks to everyone who came along to support our Big Bedtime Read launch. What a great day we had! We are looking forward to hearing how everyone enjoyed their bedtime stories!
We loved your comments on our ‘traffic light views’ and following on from that we are keen to share more of our learning opportunities with you.
For the last few years our values have been ‘Responsible, Capable and Unique’ but this year we would like to include our parents/carers in selecting a central, core value for the session. This value would be the one we would concentrate on and consistently reinforce. Our children would become very familiar with this value and would easily recognise it. It would be embedded in our practice and in the children’s behaviour.
It is important we choose the value which means the most to the children, the parents and the nursery team. We all have an equal voice in choosing the value for our nursery. We need to choose the one we feel is key for this session.
On Wednesday (29.11.17 – changed date) there will be an opportunity to make your choice. Please tick the value you think is the most important to you and add a value in if there is one we have missed. The children have already given their ideas and we will include their suggestions in the final decision.
It is great that you carry on contributing your thoughts and ideas to the nursery so we can continue to move forward. Thank you for your support.
We have counted the votes for our new buggy. We made a graph with the votes and then looked for the highest bar. There was a clear favourite seen below. It has been ordered and we hope to have it soon. Thank you again for your contributions each week which enables us to renew our resources in this way.
Some parents have been asking about dates so just a little reminder. Our Nativity Performance is on Thursday 14th of December at 9.45 a.m. and 1.45 p.m. and our Christmas parties are the following week on Wednesday 20th of December (the usual nursery times). Don’t forget the Christmas Fair on Friday 1st December as the nursery children are working very hard on items for our stall.
Our first PEEP group took place today (Monday 13th) and we had a great time. Thank you to everyone who came along.
We have three more weeks to enjoy before we stop for the lead up to Christmas (always a busy time!). We plan to run more PEEP sessions in the new year.
You are invited to our teddy and pyjama day for the launch day of our Big Bedtime Read initiative. Join us on the 28th November at 10.15am or 2.15pm. You will get to join your child for a story and a cookie before they get their first ‘Big Bedtime Read’ bag home. Children can come to nursery wearing their pyjamas and bring a teddy that they can show for ‘show and tell’ .
We are all very excited and look forward to you joining us for this special day!
We’ve been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and learning about healthy and unhealthy foods. The Caterpillar eats some unhealthy food and has a tummy ache but then he eats something healthy and soon recovers before turning into a beautiful butterfly.
Children have been concentrating very hard this week sorting colours and shapes.
Last week we told you that (from your donations) the children wanted a new buggy for nursery. We have chosen the top three and voting will open on Tuesday. Everyone will get to vote by putting a sticker with their name on it under their favourite. We will let you know when it is purchased and in use.
We are going to hold our Big Bedtime Read Launch on the same day as our Stay & Play (Tuesday 28th November). We are changing the times to 10.15 (for a.m. session) and 2.15 (for p.m. session) on this occasion only. This means when you leave you can take your first Big Bedtime Read story sack away with you. Exciting times!
