Nursery Trip Information

A few nursery parents/carers have said they would rather take their own transport on the day. This is absolutely fine but we need to know so we can alter bus requirements. If you completely go it alone the cost for you (unless you have a baby) is the same, despite not using the bus.

This is because the Five Sister’s Zoo has given us a good group deal. Also our deal includes a half hour handling session. It would be worth it for you, if taking your own car, to meet with us to go in and be included in our group price. We can arrange a time to meet up.

Let me know what you think and plan to do.

Just to let you know usually on our trip days we arrive together, then split up to wander around, meet up for any group sessions and have our lunch time altogether too. It’s a fun day!

Breastfeeding Friendly Nursery

Recently we have been focusing on how we can promote a breastfeeding friendly culture in our nursery. Staff have received training and we have written a breastfeeding policy for the nursery (see here BREASTFEEDING FRIENDLY NURSERY Policy , in the policy section of the Blog and also in the Parent Folder on the shelf in foyer).

It is known that breastfeeding can have enormous benefit to the health of both the mother and the child. However, as well as “knowing the benefits”, supportive environments are needed to enable and support breastfeeding.

At Deans Nursery we:

• Use positive and culturally appropriate images of breastfeeding

• Avoid materials which promote artificial feeding.

• Provide appropriate education and training for staff to enable them to promote, protect and support breastfeeding.

• Increase awareness of sources of support and information for breastfeeding families.

• Provide a welcoming atmosphere for breastfeeding families and to encourage breastfeeding in the public areas of the establishment.

• Support informed choice in relation to infant feeding.

More Peep Dates

We have some more dates for our ever popular Peep sessions. They are every Wednesday on the 25.4.18, 2.4.18, 9.4.18 and 16.4.18. The a.m. sessions (for p.m. nursery pupils) will be starting at 9.15 – 10.15 and the p.m. sessions (for a.m. nursery pupils) will start at 1.45 – 2.45.

Our sessions after that will target our new starts for the following session so we can provide a smooth transition to nursery.
