Next time you are in nursery come and have a look at our new winter wall, we’re using the season as inspiration to decorate our nursery and learn about winter.
I’m forever blowing bubbles….
This week we learned how to make bubbles. We created them by putting some washing up liquid, sugar and water in a bowl then used a whisk to mix it all up. Then we had fun blowing the mixture using a homemade wand.
The floor did get a wee bit slippy but we loved it.
Sickness bug outbreak
We have had a lot of children off this week with a sickness and diarrhoea bug. You may have noticed we have placed hand gel at the entrance to nursery please use this if you can when you enter.
If your child has been ill please wait 48 hours after their symptoms have gone before bringing them back to nursery.
Outdoor Play
The cold and frosty mornings doesn’t put us off going outside and enjoying the winter sun, today we used the tools in our outdoor learning area to make a tree house. The children get the benefit of some fresh air and learn some new construction skills.
Stay and Play
We had our first stay and play of the term this week which has moved back to the start of the session. If you are able to stay your child will love showing you around and you will get to see all the good work that gets done here at Deans.
The next opportunity for you to stay will be on Tuesday 26th February.
The Ten Minute Walk
The nursery team have decided to try a new initiative in the nursery. It is called the Ten Minute Walk and it means that the whole nursery will go out for a ten minute walk in our football field every Tuesday and Thursday. The research has shown it is a healthy approach, good for the body and the brain too! We plan to walk at around 10.00 and 2.00, then when we come back in it will be time for altogether time and super concentration for group activities and story.
To manage the organisation we will have two groups of nursery children using their own coats and shoes for the walk and the other groups using nursery jackets and boots. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for this. If the weather is very poor it may be cancelled but a little drizzle will not put us off!
As with all new ideas we will review it regularly and we will give you a short questionnaire at the end to get your views.
We plan to start this on Tuesday 22/1/19.
