We had another fantastic PEEP session this week where we enjoyed making Elmer Elephant models from the tops of milk bottles, there was also time for story and snack. There will be no PEEP next week but we will resume Wednesday 27th February at 9am for morning session and 1.45pm for afternoon. PEEP will also be on Wednesday 6th March and Wednesday 13th March.
All of our recent fundraising has meant we have been able to buy some lovely new resources for nursery. Look out for some more arriving in the next few weeks.
So far we’ve bought some bricks for our outdoor area, some cushions for the reading area and added to our construction materials. Thank you all for your generosity.
We have noticed that our Big Bedtime Read has not been so popular recently. We have decided to change our organisation to see if that helps. We are making it much simpler to take/return books.
There is a stand in the corridor area with the Big Bedtime Read book bags. Please help yourself to a bag. When you return the bag simply replace it with another one. It is up to you to keep an eye on the number of the bag so you keep getting fresh books.
Hope this helps to increase the uptake. We all know how important reading a bedtime story is in promoting a love of books and developing early reading skills.
We’ve attached some of our recent learning experiences.
Every Tuesday and Thursday at 10am and 2pm we take a walk/run around the football field. This is the ten minute walk initiative which many schools in Scotland are doing. Research has shown it is good for the body and the mind. Please come along if you have some free time any Tuesday and/or Thursday and join us for some outdoor fun.
We had such a great PEEP session this week with lots of children with their adult attending, thank you to everyone who came along we hope you enjoyed it.

We concentrated on learning numbers this week, first we had to get the number cards in the right order then we counted out blocks to just the right amount.
Some of the children had a great idea to use the water tray as an aquarium this week. We coloured the water a lovey sea blue and used some of the plastic sea creatures to finish the job.

Just a wee reminder about some of our rules to ensure the safety of our children. The exit door should be opened by a member of the nursery team only and we will try to ensure there is a person manning the door at these times. Please do not open the exit door for another parent, even if you feel rude ignoring them, this is to ensure our children are safe. Also be careful when leaving nursery to make sure no unauthorised child leaves with you .

New Start Children – You said sometimes there is not enough information shared about your child at the very start of nursery when you are feeling a little anxious. We will present the child with a certificate after their first week at nursery and let you know how well they have settled in. (We have always been in daily contact with parents/carers who have a child who is unsettled).
Cloakroom – You said the cloakroom is too cramped. We can offer the left hand side of the nursery. Please bring their coat and shoes into nursery and change them in there rather than in the cloakroom. If you choose to do this be aware that the children are still enjoying singing so please be as quiet as possible. Also as our cloakroom is very busy can I please remind you that if you do bring a bag that it is placed under the bench rather then on pegs.
Stay and Play – You said you preferred the start of the session for Stay and Play. We have returned to that timing. If you feel you are missing out please speak to us and we can arrange another time.
New Staff – You said sometimes there are new people on the floor and you don’t know who they are. We will post a photo and name on our notice board of new members to our team (even if temporary).
