We had our last PEEP session this week and on this occasion we had lots of acting out of nursery rhymes. We made spiders for Little Miss Muffet and little feather birds for Two Little Dickie Birds. As it was the last session each family was awarded a certificate. Well done to all who participated.
Outdoor Play
It has been a very windy week here in West Lothian so we took full advantage and made kites from plastic bags and string. The children flew them out in the playground.
Family Fun Time – Save The Date
This year we have a change to one of our annual events. We have decided to replace the family outing day with family entertainment instead. This avoids the new legislation regarding child seats in buses and has the advantage of being cheaper too.
So we have the highly recommended “Magic Muddles” coming to perform a show at the school followed by a picnic lunch. Should be loads of fun for everyone.
Save the date 31.5.19 at 11.30am – 1.30pm

Parent Consultations
Our Parent Consultations are coming up soon on the 27th/28th March. Look out for the appointment times which will go up on the nursery corridor wall shortly. All you need to do is write your name beside the appointment time that suits you best. Please let us know if you have any difficulties with these times and we will try to accommodate you.
Crafty Concentration
Some children took some time out to sit and really concentrate on making some beautiful artwork today. They were very focused on the task and the results were clear to see.
Bedtime and Books Event
On Thursday (7th) we are inviting the children to come to nursery in their pyjamas with a favourite story book (clearly named please).
This is to celebrate World Book Day.
The school are celebrating this on Friday (8th) but we don’t want our afternoon children to miss out. The P.6 children will also be coming to nursery on Thursday to read some of our favourite stories to us.
Toys From Home
A wee reminder not to bring toys from home in to nursery, precious items can be lost or broken and children can be left feeling upset. We have lots and lots in nursery for children to choose.
Please speak to the nursery team if you feel there is a special reason for a particular item to be brought by your child.
PEEP – 27 February 2019
Another great week at PEEP, this session concentrated on fine and gross motor skills. For fine skills we threaded cereal onto pipe cleaners to make bird feeders. To practise gross skills we used a line on the floor for balancing then walked along a bench and perfected our aim by throwing balloons into bowls. As ever we had time for a story and snack.
The next session will be 6th March at 9am for afternoon children and 1.45pm for morning children. Please come and join us if you can.
New Resources
We promised a few weeks ago to update you when our new resources arrived, and we’ve had a few deliveries. We’ve got a lovely new painting easel and chalk board, new craft materials to encourage weaving skills and new musical instruments for the garden area which has proved to be a huge hit. Watch out Britain’s Got Talent! Lastly we have a new child friendly video camera.
As ever we very much appreciate the fundraising efforts of everyone involved as the children really benefit from exciting new things to play and learn with.
Recycling
We have spoken this week about the importance of recycling and everyone putting their rubbish in the right bins. The children like the responsibility of doing this important job and it is something you could encourage at home.
