Magic Muddles and Graduation

We had a very special day in nursery last Friday, firstly by having Magic Muddles here to entertain us.  I think we can safely say by the noise in the hall everyone had an amazing time.  Secondly it was time to celebrate our big boys and girls graduating from nursery as they are set to leave us to be a big Primary 1.  We also had our little ones graduating to be pre-schoolers.  The lovely day was finished with a tasty picnic in the hall.  Good luck to everyone, we hope you have a fantastic summer.

Family Fun Time – Save The Date

This year we have a change to one of our annual events.  We have decided to replace the family outing day with family entertainment instead.  This avoids the new legislation regarding child seats in buses and has the advantage of being cheaper too.

So we have the highly recommended “Magic Muddles” coming to perform a show at the school followed by a picnic lunch. Should be loads of fun for everyone.

Bedtime and Books Event

On Thursday (7th) we are inviting the children to come to nursery in their pyjamas with a favourite story book (clearly named please).

This is to celebrate World Book Day.

The school are celebrating this on Friday (8th) but we don’t want our afternoon children to miss out. The P.6 children will also be coming to nursery on Thursday to read some of our favourite stories to us.

New Resources

We promised a few weeks ago to update you when our new resources arrived, and we’ve had a few deliveries.  We’ve got a lovely new painting easel and chalk board, new craft materials to encourage weaving skills and new musical instruments for the garden area which has proved to be a huge hit. Watch out Britain’s Got Talent!  Lastly we have a new child friendly video camera.

As ever we very much appreciate the fundraising efforts of everyone involved as the children really benefit from exciting new things to play and learn with.

Big Bedtime Read

We have noticed that our Big Bedtime Read has not been so popular recently. We have decided to change our organisation to see if that helps. We are making it much simpler to take/return books.

There is a stand in the corridor area with the Big Bedtime Read book bags. Please help yourself to a bag. When you return the bag simply replace it with another one. It is up to you to keep an eye on the number of the bag so you keep getting fresh books.

Hope this helps to increase the uptake. We all know how important reading a bedtime story is in promoting a love of books and developing early reading skills.
