Christmas Hamper

We are trying to raise some funds to buy new nursery resources. To help with this we have decided to make up a hamper which we will raffle. We have put a box in the cloakroom area of the nursery and are looking for donations of non-perishable foods or toiletries to make this up. Any donations are greatly appreciated.

Christmas Sing-a-long

This will take part on the 11 December at 11AM for the morning children and 2.30PM for the afternoon children. We have sent home a copy of the words so you can practice  for the occasion. Can children please wear something Christmas related for this event.

The special visitor will be arriving at 11.30AM and 3.30PM.

On this day only the children who are in for the full day will be having lunch in the nursery. Please do not send your child with a lunch if they only attend in the morning.

The photographer will be in nursery tomorrow, Tuesday 26 November, to take the children’s photos. She will start at 8.50AM for the morning children with siblings and then will take individual photos when these are finished. WE ARE BACK ON THE BLOG!!!!!

We have had a busy week in nursery learning all about “ice” and “rockets”.

The children have taken an interest in the ice they have seen out in the garden due to the falling temperatures over the last two weeks. Maya found a dish in the garden that had flowers and water that had frozen over night and asked the question “How do we get the flowers out?”. This has developed into a full investigation into how water can change state due to temperature. Reuben also told us that “salt melts ice” which then lead to an experiment to see what melted the ice quicker, the warmth or the salt. Prior to carrying out the experiment we predicted what we thought the result should be and recorded these on a graph. Ask your child what the outcome was and they could share their learning.

The children have also been making rockets using junk modelling and at the craft table. There is more to follow on this next week with another experiment to capture the children’s attention. I’m sure NASA will be interested in our little scientists!!!!
