Good morning everyone.
Lets get Active
Today instead of Joe Wicks I thought we could try this workout
Mindfullness activity
When out a walk in nature, stop for a few minutes and do this exercise together.
- Name all the things that you can notice around you
- Name all the things that you can hear
- Say how you are feeling , are you happy? Do you feel peaceful? Tell each other why you are feeling this way. Maybe you are happy because the sun is shining and you are enjoying your walk.
Enjoy some quiet minutes taking deep breaths in and out together and enjoying the air on your face.
Stepping-stones game
In nursery the children love to play “danger” games! They often use the wooden blocks as stepping stones and try not to stand on the ground as they hop or jump from block to block, before the shark/crocodile catches them. It’s a simple, fun game that can last for ages and teaches turn taking while also working on key gross motor skills and balance. You could try this with paper or cushions as the stepping stone at home.
Story
Zog
This tale is about a dragon who was learning lots of new skills at Dragon school. His practising wasn’t always a success and he’s been always rescued by the same girl. As he found out later, she was a princess. They became friends until… a knight came to her rescue. Will they fight? Watch the video while we read it aloud to find out how it ends. This tale is written in rhyme, so babies, toddlers and small children will enjoy listening to it.
Lets get Creative
Emotion faces
Get creative with a craft activity. Draw different emotional faces with you child. Ask your child to guess what emotion the face is feeling each time.
Take your pencil for a walk
You will need:
plain white paper
Writing pencil
Coloured pens or pencils
Watch this video clip for ideas of how to do this activity.
Numeracy
2D Shape Pictures
Do you have some coloured paper, card or felt lying around the house, why don’t you cut them into a variety of shapes and see what pictures can be created from them. A fun activity making great use of fine motor skills, shape recognition and creativity!
Remember we love to see the activities you have been doing at home so try and upload some pictures to your Learning Journey.
Have a great day!!!
