{"id":2237,"date":"2016-11-24T14:02:06","date_gmt":"2016-11-24T14:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/uphallprimary\/?p=2237"},"modified":"2016-11-24T14:02:06","modified_gmt":"2016-11-24T14:02:06","slug":"breastfeeding-friendly-nursery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/uphallprimary\/2016\/11\/24\/breastfeeding-friendly-nursery\/","title":{"rendered":"Breastfeeding Friendly Nursery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Uphall Nursery are currently working towards gaining a certificate of achievement to be classed as \u201cBreastfeeding Friendly\u201d by West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership.<\/p>\n<p>Recently we have been focusing on how we can promote a breastfeeding friendly culture in our nursery.\u00a0 Our staff have received training and we have written a\u00a0breastfeeding policy for the nursery.\u00a0 It is known that breastfeeding can have enormous benefit to the health of both the mother and the child. \u00a0However, \u00a0as well as \u201cknowing the benefits\u201d, we know that supportive environments are needed to enable and support breastfeeding.<\/p>\n<p>At Uphall Nursery we:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use positive and culturally appropriate images of breastfeeding<\/li>\n<li>Avoid materials which promote artificial feeding<\/li>\n<li>Provide appropriate education and training for staff to enable them to promote, protect and support breastfeeding<\/li>\n<li>Increase awareness of sources of support and information for breastfeeding families<\/li>\n<li>Provide a welcoming atmosphere for breastfeeding families and to encourage breastfeeding in the public areas of the establishment<\/li>\n<li>Support informed choice in relation to infant feeding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uphall Nursery are currently working towards gaining a certificate of achievement to be classed as \u201cBreastfeeding Friendly\u201d by West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership.
