Today P3G have been using 100 squares to find 1 less, 1 more, 10 less and 10 more!
We have had a go at splat 100 on the smartboard and followed this up with a task using our own 100 squares to consolidate what we have learned!
Today the P7 children worked with others again to help them develop their problem solving strategies. We looked at how the children viewed a 3 by 3 grid of squares and wrote this in numerical form. The children then had to figure out how to apply these to a problem of a bigger size. The pupils had fun trying to figure out how many straws were needed in a 13 by 13 puzzle.
This week is Maths Week across the school and yesterday the P7s completed their first ‘Inspirational Maths’ activity. The children had to work in teams of four or five to create 3D shapes using a rope. There was lots of good working together and using the maths language linked with shape as well as some creative ways being used to create the shapes. Today the children will work on growth patterns and will require to use their problem solving skills.
This event will run in school from 6pm until 7pm tomorrow night (12th September 2017). This is an informal event which gives parents and carers the opportunity to see what their child/children will be learning and chat to their teacher. We look forward to welcoming you all.
Lots of children from P4 – P7 have chosen to join our new school choir led by Mrs Bain. They will perform at ‘The Service of Commemoration for Clp Robert Beveridge’ at the Strathbrock Parish Church. The service will be held on Saturday 21st October at 2pm. Please ask your children about this at home and save the date. More information will follow shortly.
