P1 Transition Update -What do you need when you start school?

When your child starts school they will need items to support their learning and when participating in indoor and outdoor PE lessons. Below is a list of items your child will need for starting school.

All clothing and equipment should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please make sure that your child’s name is on all parts of their school uniform – even their shoes. It is easier for us to locate lost property if it is named.

  • A warm, waterproof jacket
  • An indoor PE kit – shorts, a t-shirt and a pair of indoor gym shoes
  • An outdoor PE kit – leggings or jogging trousers, a t-shirt, a fleece or zipped top, outdoor trainers
  • A school bag
  • A pencil case
  • A small manageable snack for playtime
  • A water bottle
  • A packed lunch if they are not having school dinners.

As always if you have any questions about your child’s transition please contact the school by e-mail.

Early Learning Centre Weekly Activities (19th May)

Hello everyone,

Here are some home learning activities for this week about rabbits as they are a sign of Spring.

Lets start with learning a song:

Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose,

Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose.

Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose,

So he flipped it and he flopped it and the fly flew away.

Floppy ears and curly whiskers,

Floppy ears and curly whiskers,

Floppy ears and curly whiskers

So he flipped it and he flopped it and the fly flew away.

Would you like to play a quick game? The bunny ears game is a great game to play with a family member using your hands and fingers. Show how well you know your numbers by using your fingers to represent numbers. Can you make bunny ears using number 4, so you will need to count two fingers on one hand and count two fingers on the other. Count them to make sure you have 4 and then raise your hands up above your head and flap your two fingers on each hand to make bunny ears. Try again with another number from 1-10.

Have a look around your house for a book about a rabbit to read along with a family member.  A suggestion would be ‘Guess How Much I Love You’ by Sam McBratney.

What about making a rabbit using junk materials, paint/pencils. See what you have around your house and get creative. Think about what parts of the rabbit you could add to your creation? Maybe the Peter Rabbit song will help you with ideas. We would really like to see your rabbit so please post a picture on your learning journal.

Have fun from the ELC Team .🌈🐰

Tuesday 19th May P3 Home Learning

Good morning! So the theme this week is…..MONEY!

Numeracy

1).Make sure you recognise all the coins and notes here. Ask an adult for each coin/note. If they don’t have them all you can draw your own and cut them out.

2) Order your coins from smallest to largest. It is important to know the value of your coins! Play the order and sorting game here. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/money/coins-game

3) Now I’d like you to make your own little pretend shop or café at home! Choose some items for your shop/café and put prices on them. Remember…

– There are 100 pennies in a pound.

-You write p if it is less than one pound and you use the £ sign when it is more (never use both the £ and p sign).

– Write the pounds first, the dot, then the pennies (e.g. £1.10 = 1 pound and 10 pence)

Choose from the chilli challenge for your pricing (you will be adding/finding change from these items later in the week) …

MILD: Mark all prices up to £1.

Spicy: Mark all prices up to £5 but keep the pennies in tens (e.g. £1.10, £2.30, £4.40)

Hot: Mark prices up to £10 and ensuring you have tens and ones in the pennies (e.g. £1.15, £2.25)

4) Choose one item from your shop/café- how many combinations of coins can you use to pay for it? Remember to use coins that exist! You can’t have a 3p coin but you can have a 2p and 1p!

Literacy

5) Design your own price list or Menu for your pretend café/ shop.

Remember to give Proper Nouns capital letters e.g. ‘pen’ doesn’t need a capital letter as it’s a common noun but ‘Crayola pen’ does because it’s a specific type/brand.

Spelling/ Phonics/Reading

6) Complete one activity from the carousel Spelling phonicsreading carousel

Afternoon activity

7) Complete one activity from the grid General task grid MONEY
