Term 1 – Week 2

This week our children were very interested in threading at the number table.  They were keen to develop this idea further at the ‘creative area’ by threading different papers and materials using a needle.  This then progressed  onto threading pasta onto string, wool and pipe cleaners to make necklaces and bracelets.  We hope that you liked your new jewellery!

The children asked to paint their pasta and we had fun adding glitter to make the pasta sparkle 🙂

When painting their pasta the children told Mrs Galloway that someone had used the wrong brush and the colour was wrong. This then lead the children to become interested in colour mixing.

Other areas of our nursery were busy too…

Term 1 – Week 1: Welcome to Uphall Nursery

A huge welcome to all of our new children, parents and carers and a huge ‘welcome back’ to our pre-school children.

We have been so lucky over the summer holidays to purchase some new furniture and resources for our nursery, we are so excited to share it with our children and their parents/carers.

We are now going to concentrate on the development of our outdoor learning environment…watch this space for updates!

During their first week at nursery the children have enjoyed getting to know the nursery staff and their own key workers.   They have made new friends and also enjoyed being reunited with old ones.   This week we have talked about how to take care of our nursery and have enjoyed tidying up when we hear our new ‘tidy up song’.

Here are some pictures of our children being very busy on their first week at nursery…

Uphall Primary and Nursery Big Dig Saturday 24th September

After the long summer holiday our grounds are in need of a little TLC so we are looking for some practical help to have them looking neat and tidy again. If you can spare a few hours between 10am and 12.30 pm on Saturday 24th September please come and join us. We have some gardening equipment but would be grateful if you could bring your own with you. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
We’re looking forward to seeing all your green fingers.

P7 Buddies

This week the P7s helped their buddies every day at lunchtime to support them with settling in and learning the routines connected with the dinner hall.  On Friday the children also had their first buddy session and worked in groups to listen to the P1 children talk about their ‘Marvellous Me’ boxes.

P7 – A New Term

Welcome back to all the P7 children after a lovely summer break.  The class has displayed excellent behaviour all week and has set a good example to others across the school.  The P 7s helped their buddies at break time this week to settle in to Uphall Primary and all did a good job.  Keep up the great work P7!
