Primary 1 is Nearly Done!

This morning the two P1 classes joined together for an end of year awards ceremony. Mrs McKay rolled out the red carpet and all of the children were given individual certificates which recognised an achievement or something to be very proud of. There were also some extra special trophies!

Well done boys and girls. Be proud of what a great P1 you have been part of. Mrs McKay and Mrs Sutherland hope to hear great things of you as you go through school.

We thought it would be a nice idea to have a look back through the year. Here are some of the things that the children have enjoyed !

Gary the fireman came to visit and we dressed up as firemen!

We listened to a story called The Rainbow Fish which helped us learn about making friends and sharing things. We drew pictures of the rainbow fish and wrote about our favourite part of the story.

We did lots of paired reading with our friends. We took it in turns to choose books and share them.

We loved Christmas lunch as you can see!

Our nativity was fabulous. We are still singing some of the songs !

We learned about Scotland and made our own whirry bangs, just like Hamish McHaggis!

Here we are dressed up for World Book Day!

We learned about dinosaurs and made our own dioramas at home. We had a dinosaur museum in class with lots of visitors to be shown round.

We were invited to Broxburn library. It was a long walk there and back but it was worth it! Hopefully you will hear us singing!

Mrs McKay and Mrs Sutherland would like to say a huge thank you to all of the families for their support this year. It has been a fantastic and fun year which we and the children have greatly enjoyed!

Summer Reading Challenge 2017

Boys and girls, if you are looking for something to do during the holidays, Broxburn Library are running the summer reading challenge again. Diane at the library, who we visited with the Primary 1 classes, has told us about it:-

“It runs for six weeks during the holidays, where the children come and return the books weekly that they have read and collect a small free gift, and they can also join in with a craft each week. After they have completed the six book challenge they will then be invited to a medal and certificate ceremony before the school goes back.”

Diane has told me that some of our pupils have signed up already which is great news!

There is some more information about the Summer Reading Challenge here

Happy reading boys and girls!

West Lothian Young Writers Competition

We are very proud of all our children who entered the ‘West Lothian Young Writers Competition’ this year. Last night we watched as two of our fantastic writers collected their awards from the council. It was a lovely evening at Howden Park Centre. Congratulations to both John and Meghan.

Sports Day Fun!

This morning everyone in the Infants enjoyed a super sports day with potted sports such as bean bag toss and egg and spoon race followed by some races in our classes. Thank you very much to all of the Primary 7’s for helping to organise the children at the different events and for making sure that everyone had a great time!

Well done to all of the pupils who took part. Here are some photos for you to look at!

A fantastic ‘sporty’ morning everyone!

Our visit to Summerlee Museum

Last week Primary 3 went off to Summerlee Museum in Coatbridge. We had a wonderful time finding out about coal and how it was mined, what life was like down in the mine, the different jobs which the miners had to do and how the houses which the miners stayed in changed over the years.

We all had a fantastic time and learned lots of interesting information to use as part of our Mining topic.

Here are some photographs of our day for you to look at.
