Addition Fun!

We have been learning all about adding.

We have been practising adding 2 groups of things together.  We have been practising our counting on strategy too.  We know that this can help us get the answer faster!

We have been making addition colouring pictures and we have created butterflies with number stories. These activities were great fun!

Tartan Kilts!

Primary 1a have been looking at tartan patterns and learning about how some tartans help identify a family name.

We looked at the lines and the colours in a range of tartans then we created our own using rollers and paint.  Some of the class also created patterns of lines using a paper weaving technique.

Check out our kilts!

Scottish Thistles

P1 have been thinking about where they live.  We know we live in a country called Scotland and that it is part of the UK.  Primary 1a talked about about some of the things we knew about Scotland and about how some things help us to recognise countries or places.

We learned that the thistle is the national Scottish flower.  Using the internet we looked at pictures of thistles and studied their features.  After we had identified the different parts of the flower we then used oil pastels to create our own art work.

Look at our creations!

Phonics fun in P1!

This week we have been revising all our sounds and practising our blending skills.

Some of the activities we did this week were: reading CVC words as fast as we could, reading sentences to find out what they said so that we could draw the correct picture, adding ‘ee’ or ‘oo’ to make words and another activity was sorting out words to make sentences.

Loads of fun in our classroom!

Keep up the great work P1! 🙂
