The 5Rs

This week we have been learning how we can be responsible, resilient, reflective, resourceful and respectful. BIG words for Primary 1 so we talked about what they mean. No BIG task for Primary 1 however as we came up with lots of examples. Have a look and prepare to be impressed!

Paired Reading in Primary 1S

This morning we were learning about paired reading. We know that means working in two’s because there are two shoes in a pair. Some of us ended up in a three because we found it difficult to just choose one partner!

We discussed what books we liked the look of in our class library. Some different books we were interested in were about penguins, fire engines and dinosaurs. We learned how to ask questions about the book and how to take turns in our reading. At the end we reported back to the other trios and pairs. Some of us found our book a bit tricky and others thought we had read a really interesting book.

Here we are enjoying our reading!

Primary 2 Home Learning

On Tuesday the children will be bringing their new home learning jotters to show to you. They will have a range of activities to carry out each week which will reinforce what they have been learning in class. Each jotter has an information sheet to help you as parents have a clear idea of how to support the children with these activities as it is something different for all of us. Tomorrow in class we will have a look at some examples of home learning jotters to help the children with this.

Parent appointment times for Thursday 15th October will also be inside the jotters.

The children have had a note home today to say that Mrs Ingham is absent and I shall be teaching the class meanwhile. I am enjoying getting to know them all and look forward to supporting them with their learning over the next wee while!

Regards,
P Sutherland

P7 Young Apprentice

Primary 7 have started their new topic – the Young Apprentice! We have spent the last 2 weeks organising our companies, designing logos and slogans and refreshing our budgeting skills. We will soon be designing our own products and presenting them to ‘buyers’! Check back soon to see what else we have been doing. Good luck Primary 7!

P5 Sharing their Learning in French

Primary 5 have been working very hard to learn and practise new French vocabulary.  They worked in groups this week to prepare powerpoint presentations so that they could share their learning with the whole class.  Excellent work Primary 5 – Mrs Sutherland was very impressed with your knowledge and the way you all worked together.
