Science – Forces

A huge well done to P6M on their effective paired and group work to create a chain reaction using forces.

What is a Chain Reaction?
A Chain Reaction is a sequence of little events where one object hits another object to create a reaction.  We can say that the force we show one thing is going to pass onto the next thing. The energy is passed on from one object to the next.

The pupils used their subject knowledge of forces to build multi-level chain reactions using a number of different elements to showcase gravity using a zipline or downward ball roll/steps, a push using the see-saw method or a beebot, a pull using string attached to a beebot.

The pupils had to build, trial and amend their chain reactions to make sure that enough energy was created to keep the chain reaction going.   There was lots of purposeful talk, problem solving and resilience required in this challenge!

Science: Electricity

P6M were very busy in Science during Term 1 working on electrical circuit activities.

The pupils drew simple series circuits using the standard symbols to represent their knowledge of the components.  They were drawing upon on their resilience and problem solving skills to make changes to the circuits when the components did not work.

They made buzzers beep, lights glow, motors spin and created circuits with multiple components.  They included switches to allow them to control the components.

Lots of smiles and thumbs up to show successful circuits, super effort p6M!

Outdoor Play

Our children love to play out in the Nursery garden.  They like to mark make with chalk, ride the big wheeled toys and play in the water and sand.

We are currently developing our Nursery garden and would welcome any help from our parents and carers. If you would like to offer any help please speak to us in the Nursery, it would be much appreciated 🙂

Jobs we are wanting to do in our garden:

Painting pallets to create new areas

Planting flowers and vegetables

Building a story den
