Primary 4 Trip – The Kelpies and Linlithgow Canal

On Wednesday 24th May P4C and P4K had a fabulous day out at the Kelpies and Linlithgow Canal Centre. Our guide at the Kelpies, Michaela told us lots of interesting facts. We learned all about the mythological creatures then we went inside Duke, the head down Kelpie, and saw how all the steel plates had been put together to make the sculpture. We also drew a portrait of Duke. Our visit to the Linlithgow Canal Centre was great fun too. We learned lots of interesting facts and sailed in a canal boat. We learned all about the “navvies” or navigators who dug the canal by hand and saw some of the tools they used. Thank goodness for modern mechanical diggers.

Malawi Update

Owen  Kasitumo from our partner school, Nanjala Primary, in Malawi has been in touch to give us an update on how our fundraising money is being spent. This year we have provided more pupil desks, this means that we have now provided desks for 3 classrooms where children no longer need to sit on a concrete floor all day. We have also provided a teacher desk.

On my last visit in October 2016 the girls netball team asked if they could have netball hoops. These have now been made and the girls are delighted that they can practise properly and have matches with other schools.

The desks and hoops have been made by local craftsmen, meaning that our fundraising is also helping the local community and promoting sustainable development.

We have also funded a post office box address for the school which will make it much easier for our letters to reach their destination sooner. The children of Uphall primary will be putting this to the test shortly when they write letters to their pen pals.

We will be continuing  our fundraising with some new and exciting initiatives. Meanwhile please send in any 1p and 2p coins and we will try to make another mile before summer.

Many thanks for your continuing support.

Bringing Water to School

As the weather gets warmer the children will need to be drinking water in school. As such we would like to remind all pupils to bring a water bottle to school every day. Still juice, not fizzy, should only be brought for snack or lunch and not for drinking in the classroom.
Remember- a hydrated brain is a learning brain.

Dance Video for P4K

Primary 4K are busy practising for our class assembly on 26th May. We will be doing a dance to Pharrell Williams, Happy. I have posted the link below and the children are happy (excuse the pun) to practise at home. The countdown to the extravaganza has begun.

Thank you for your support.
