P6/7 – Roof Challenge

The builders arrived in Uphall this week to start work on replacing part of the school roof.  As part of the Technology curriculum, P6/7 has been given the challenge of designing and building a 3D model of a new pitched school roof.  The children will be working in groups of 3 and will be learning to use tools like saws and hammers to help with their models.

P6/7 – This Week’s Learning

This week P6/7 have been refreshing their memory with times tables after the summer break.  In shared reading we have started to read a new book called ‘Oranges in No Man’s Land’ and have started a new class novel called ‘Running Out of Time’.  During maths we have worked on our mental strategies for adding up to triple digit numbers. and have been learning the 1089 times table!  We worked in groups of four and had to make a radio programme which included a jingle, an interview and an advert.  We finished off our week with an exciting game of rounders which everyone enjoyed.

P6/7 – 50th Birthday Celebrations

Well done to all the children who performed in the school show for the 50th birthday celebrations.  Here is a picture of the P6/7 class who are dressed in their 80’s outfits.  The children performed a dance to ‘Dancing in the Street’ and then a catwalk to ‘Karma Chameleon’.
