Today the P7 children worked with others again to help them develop their problem solving strategies. We looked at how the children viewed a 3 by 3 grid of squares and wrote this in numerical form. The children then had to figure out how to apply these to a problem of a bigger size. The pupils had fun trying to figure out how many straws were needed in a 13 by 13 puzzle.

P7 Maths Week
This week is Maths Week across the school and yesterday the P7s completed their first ‘Inspirational Maths’ activity. The children had to work in teams of four or five to create 3D shapes using a rope. There was lots of good working together and using the maths language linked with shape as well as some creative ways being used to create the shapes. Today the children will work on growth patterns and will require to use their problem solving skills.
P7 Maths Challenge
Today all the P7 children were at the Academy for a Maths Challenge as part of their transition work. Well done to Emma and Kayla who were part of the winning team overall from all the cluster schools.

P7 Visitors
This week the P7 class has been lucky enough to have two visitors to the class to help with our learning. On Tuesday the pupils took part in the first of 3 workshops on Tobacco Awareness. They also had a visit from the SSPCA to talk about animal cruelty. Luke was able to share his in depth knowledge about dogs with the SSPCA.
