We continue to explore the signs of spring!

Hello Everyone

What a beautiful morning with the shining sun.  I hope that you are well and ready for another spring activity!

In spring we see lots of new baby animals out in the wild and also at home.  All the children love to care for our Guinea pigs and there was a real focus from the children to get a soft toy and make a harness to take their animal a walk.  The children would take them everywhere, outside for exercise and some would take them into the school if we were walking to the office.  This would be lovely to extend at home with the following activity.

Health and Wellbeing Activity – Looking After Animals

This activity involves a special toy animal or a pet and how we can care and look after them.

*Be kind to your pet or special toy; play and look after them and remember keep them safe just like Safe Sally says.

*Speak to your child about how we care for animals and keep them healthy, then your child can pretend to care for their toy or in reality your pet.

*Ask them how we care for Tinker & Tike at nursery, what they eat, cleaning their cage and keeping them warm.

*Speak about how we keep animals safe from harm and what you can do if your animal gets hurt.  Your child might want you to be the vet to help make their animal better.

*Remember to wash your hands after touching and handling animals.

It is always nice to hear if your child has enjoyed the activity, share their voice with us on the reply section!

Take care and keep safe.

Regards

Mrs Lithgow has a pet cat called Boots and he loves me giving him cuddles. I care for him by feeding him (he loves Tuna) and brushing his coat. He loves to play by running after his toy mouse 🙂

  2. Hi, Orrin loved telling mummy and daddy about Tinker and Tike! He said they like vegetables and they get straw for a bed.
The animal task was very exciting as we finally got to meet our puppy last week ( a few weeks later than planned) so Orrin helped brush him today and he held the lead when we were out for our walk. He also enjoyed playing with the squeaky toy with him.

Hope you are all well x

  3. Sydney has two dogs – Nutty and Loopy. Nutty loves to play ball with Sydney and Xander. Sydney is really good at letting the dogs out into the garden and letting them in again. Loopy loves to go upstairs to Sydney’s bedroom and get cuddles

  6. Mrs jennings has a cat called Elvis. He is 14 years old and loves to relax in the sunshine ☀️

  7. Mrs Armstrong doesn’t have any pets as Mr Armstrong is allergic 😢. I am enjoying hearing about all your pets though. Keep posting 👍

  8. Georgie has got lots of animals in her house. She has 3 dogs called Messi, Willow and Pippa. She also has 2 budgies called Cheeky and Sparkle and Sparkle likes to talk and bark like the dogs. We also have 2 rabbits called Flopsy and Hamish who love playing in the garden and getting clapped when Georgie is out in the garden too. She also has a tropical fish tank which Georgie helps to feed the fish but only a tiny bit. So yeah Georgie is always busy feed the anims or walking the dogs with Daddy!

  9. Mrs Nicholls doesn’t have any pets am sad to say, but I have been enjoying watching the bird life eat from my bird table. Today I managed to photograph a Blue Tit, a small bird with a blue head flapping its wings and having a quick wash in my bird bath. Lovely to watch for people who have no pets at home .
