A busy end of term for P4K!

I am very excited to have returned to school and I have received a very warm welcome from P4K.  We’ve spent some time getting to know each other but we’ve wasted no time in getting down to some hard work for the end of term.

Literacy

We started our new class novel “Fantastic Mr Fox” by Roald Dahl.  We chose the book as a class and we love the characters so much already.  We worked hard at picking some amazing adjectives to describe Bogus, Bunce and Bean (the horrid farmers!).  We also learned about similes and wrote some about the characters in the book.  We’ve had lots of opportunities to answer questions about the novel, and lots of discussion time in our groups.  We can’t wait to keep reading!

Maths

This week we started our maths topic of shape.  We have been looking at the properties of 2D shape .  We know how to describe a shape using the correct mathematical language, although we are going to keep practising the words regular, irregular and quadrilateral.  We played lots of games and activities to help our learning.  Here are some links to games to try at home!

Health and Wellbeing

This week we have been learning to dodge.  We had all played dodgeball before but we took the time this week to think about what skills we needed to be effective and successful in the game.  We worked in small groups to practise dodging, ducking and jumping and we improved our skills so we could be more effective during the game.

Art

During art we looked at the artist Gustav Klimt.  We enjoyed talking about his painting “The Tree of Life” and we are creating our own trees inspired by his work.  Keep tuned to the blog as we will share some pictures when the trees are complete.
