Primary 4 Trip – The Kelpies and Linlithgow Canal

On Wednesday 24th May P4C and P4K had a fabulous day out at the Kelpies and Linlithgow Canal Centre. Our guide at the Kelpies, Michaela told us lots of interesting facts. We learned all about the mythological creatures then we went inside Duke, the head down Kelpie, and saw how all the steel plates had been put together to make the sculpture. We also drew a portrait of Duke. Our visit to the Linlithgow Canal Centre was great fun too. We learned lots of interesting facts and sailed in a canal boat. We learned all about the “navvies” or navigators who dug the canal by hand and saw some of the tools they used. Thank goodness for modern mechanical diggers.
