Primary 5/6

We have had a great time since coming back to school after the holidays. We started a WAGOLL board (What A Good One Looks Like) and started our Class Charter. We’ll put up photos when it’s finished.

So far, we have started playing Maths Champ and have had 2 winners, Jack and Lewis. Well done, boys!

We are going to enter the 500 words story competition run by the BBC next year and we have started practising already!

We came up with our class motto which is “When we are together, we get along much better”. We love it!

We started Fitness Friday which is hard work but lots of fun. We have to run for a minute and then walk for a minute. We are going to take this out and about in Uphall and pound the pavements!

We started our class novel. It is a book called “Wonder” which is all about a boy starting school for the first time. We’re not going to tell you any more. (Don’t judge a boy by his face). I WONDER if you are going to read it…..

P6/7 – This Week’s Learning

This week P6/7 have been refreshing their memory with times tables after the summer break.  In shared reading we have started to read a new book called ‘Oranges in No Man’s Land’ and have started a new class novel called ‘Running Out of Time’.  During maths we have worked on our mental strategies for adding up to triple digit numbers. and have been learning the 1089 times table!  We worked in groups of four and had to make a radio programme which included a jingle, an interview and an advert.  We finished off our week with an exciting game of rounders which everyone enjoyed.

Listening and Talking

P3/4 have shown good listening skills whilst their friends in class show and tell objects from their holiday.

This week (Friday 21st September) we focused on objects found at or near the beach (or bought/found/won on a beach holiday).

What’s your favourite colour?

Welcome back to my new P3/4 class!  We have been spending time getting to know each other this (short) week, including when our birthdays are, and what our favourite TV programmes, sweets, food, pets and colours are.  Well done for organising and displaying information about our favourite colours.  Here they are busy at work…
