A message from Police Scotland, West Lothian Council & Scottish Fire & Rescue Service

Dear Parents/Guardians,
In the run up to bonfire night, Police Scotland, West Lothian Council and Scottish Fire & Rescue are keen to keep everyone safe. In previous years we have seen firework-related anti-social behaviour (ASB) and disorder in this area, and we are asking for your help to prevent this occurring again

We are offering the following advice to stay safe this fireworks night:
– Unless supervised by an adult, please do not allow your children or young people to handle, purchase or set off fireworks.
– Do not allow your children or young people to be involved in or accompany anyone who is involved in ASB or disorder.
– Please report any ASB or disorder you are aware of or hear of.
– Dispose of your rubbish appropriately leading up to bonfire weekend.
– Please report any known unauthorised bonfires or firework displays by calling:
o West Lothian Council, 01506 280000
o Police Scotland, 101
o Crimestoppers, 0800 555 111

– You can report unauthorised fireworks sellers to Trading Standards anonymously by clicking the following link:

Legislation
• No person under the age of 18 can possess an adult* firework in a public place
• It is an offence to supply adult* fireworks to persons under 18
• It is an offence to supply any fireworks to persons under 16
• It is an offence to throw fireworks on a road or other public place
*Adult firework is any firework except for caps, cracker snaps, indoor fireworks, novelty matches, party poppers, serpents and throw downs.

Those who choose to get involved in antisocial behaviour or disorder on or around the 5th November will be dealt with robustly and may also be subject to prosecution.
Please help us make sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable bonfire night.

ASA Scotland Community Event

ASA Scotland Charity Board of Trustees would like to extend an invitation to all school children and their families to join them at our upcoming event.

The main aim of the day is to bring together young people, families, the wider community, and Veterans to recognise and appreciate the contribution of our Armed Forces, Military Families and Veterans – past, present, and future.

The display will give young people a real understanding of our local history, from WW1, WW2 to the current day.

NEW YOUNG SCOT APP

There is now a Young Scot app which can be downloaded to the young person’s phone at
https://young.scot. The Young Scot card can then be linked to the app to take advantage of
exciting features including:

 *The ability to order a replacement Young Scot National Entitlement Card through the app for
anyone over the age of 12.
 *A digital card within the app that will allow young people to access ‘show and go discounts’
in stores
 *A ‘Near Me’ interactive map of discounts in their local area and beyond.

However, the physical card must still be used for free bus travel and proof of age.

P7/6 Learning Update

We have been learning how to speak French and learning about Europe for the Euroquiz.  We have been learning about bats and learned they have fingers and eat 3000 insects a day.  In Numeracy we have been dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.  We made a timeline as part of our transition for the High School.  For our PE we have been playing hockey and practising our gymnastics.
