{"id":7413,"date":"2020-02-07T12:40:52","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T11:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/torontops\/?p=7413"},"modified":"2020-02-07T12:40:52","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T11:40:52","slug":"celebrating-languages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/torontops\/2020\/02\/07\/celebrating-languages\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating Languages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Primary 4 are continuing to celebrate Scotland Loves Languages week by researching the range of languages spoken in our school community.<\/p>\n<p>We created a survey, which we carried out in each class, to find out the variety of mother tongues and additional learned languages spoken in our school, and how they were learned.<\/p>\n<p>At the last count today we have <b>20<\/b><em>\u00a0<\/em>languages spoken in our Toronto Family. The additional languages learned have been through a variety of approaches, eg. from parents\/carers, other family members, friends, at school, self study, work, online, TV.<\/p>\n<p>We also asked the children and staff which languages they would like to learn at Toronto and were delighted with the wide variety of interest from our peers, some ideas were: French, Mandarin, Polish, Italian, BSL, Gaelic.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to using this data to help plan experiences and activities to encourage other&#8217;s to love learning languages as much as we do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Primary 4 are continuing to celebrate Scotland Loves Languages week by researching the range of languages spoken in our school community.
