Our learning – Curriculum for Excellence

Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) aims to achieve a transformation in education in Scotland by providing a coherent, more flexible and enriched curriculum from 3 to 18.

The 3-18 curriculum aims to ensure that all children and young people in Scotland develop the attributes, knowledge and skills they will need to flourish in life, learning and work.

There are 4 key capacities that the curriculum follow to allow the learners to learn the knowledge, skills and attributes to become – successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

When starting nursery children will follow CfE at Early Level where they will be provided with many opportunities for learning through play across the main subject areas. These are;

Health & Wellbeing – Language – Mathematics – Social Subjects – Sciences – Technology – Expressive Arts – RME

There will be particular focus on Aspects of Health and Wellbeing; Literacy and Numeracy – these are known as the core skills or Skills for Learning, Life and Work.

Staff plan all learning experiences very carefully through collegiate professional discussion and also with children and parents. Children will be involved in planning and evaluating their own learning through Talking and Thinking Floorbooks  and their own Learner’s Journey documents.

These learning experience are offered to children through both indoor and outdoor play each day, we are very lucky to have our pergola where we can have shelter if needed but some children don’t mind the rain, therefore please ensure your child is dresses for all  weathers.
