We\u00a0 continued to modify and up level our discussion planning skills to enable us to write a perfect discussion next week. In addition, we thought about our listening ski<\/span><\/span>lls as we listened carefully to the details of an African Folk story. Then we discussed the moral of the story.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Numeracy and Maths<\/p>\n We did our\u00a0<\/span><\/span>M<\/span><\/span>aths<\/span><\/span>\u00a0outside this\u00a0<\/span><\/span>week<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0As part of our learning about time, we had to go into groups and measure out a few\u00a0<\/span>met<\/span><\/span>re<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0then run\u00a0<\/span><\/span>or do\u00a0<\/span><\/span>a different activity of our choice<\/span><\/span>\u00a0up and down the line for five minutes<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>We used stop watche<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to take turns to time ourselves.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We also started our new ‘Chooseday’ Numeracy actvities this week. We had 8 different Numeracy tasks to choose from. Some of us chose to work outdoors, some made Eat Well plates, some used a Numeracy Workout website and others played snap. All the activities helped us to practise and consolidate our learning about fractions, decimals and percentages.<\/p>\n Learning Across the Curriculum<\/p>\n Health and Wellbeing:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>In P<\/span>.<\/span>E<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>we learnt some\u00a0<\/span>new skills in basket<\/span>ba<\/span>ll<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>w<\/span>h<\/span>ere we would spin the basketball\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>round\u00a0<\/span>our<\/span>\u00a0back and lots of other\u00a0<\/span>fun skills.\u00a0<\/span>Also,<\/span>\u00a0we got put into\u00a0<\/span>two groups and played\u00a0<\/span>\u2018K<\/span>iller<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0where you have to try and s<\/span>hoot and if you miss<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0the person behind you scores<\/span>\u00a0and then you are out<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Art: In\u00a0<\/span>A<\/span>rt with\u00a0<\/span>Mrs.<\/span>\u00a0Co<\/span>nway we were making paper sculptures.<\/span>\u00a0We got t<\/span>aught<\/span>\u00a0lots of different paper folding<\/span>\u00a0and cutting\u00a0<\/span>methods\u00a0<\/span>and we used them to make\u00a0<\/span>r<\/span>andom\u00a0<\/span>things<\/span>\u00a0of our choice<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0Next week we are\u00a0<\/span>going<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0make a FACE SCULPTURE<\/span>!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Torness<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>P<\/span>ower\u00a0<\/span>S<\/span>tation:\u00a0 We had a\u00a0<\/span>class\u00a0<\/span>trip to\u00a0<\/span>Torness<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>P<\/span>ower\u00a0<\/span>S<\/span>tation and we go<\/span>t a tour\u00a0<\/span>around the premises which enabled\u00a0<\/span>us\u00a0to<\/span>\u00a0see the big\u00a0<\/span>machines<\/span>\u00a0and the control room.<\/span>\u00a0Then we got put into groups of six and we had to try and build the tallest and\u00a0<\/span>prettiest tower we could\u00a0<\/span>using just<\/span>\u00a0a roll of\u00a0<\/span>sellotape,<\/span>\u00a0scissors<\/span>, A3 paper and A4\u00a0 paper.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Music:\u00a0<\/span>Drum<\/span>ming<\/span>\u00a0– This week a man came into school and was teaching us<\/span>\u00a0how to play the\u00a0<\/span>drums<\/span>\u00a0but they were special drums<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0they were huge!\u00a0<\/span>They are often used in films and in\u00a0<\/span>Japanese<\/span>\u00a0festivals. We got told ho<\/span>w to do a drum roll and a song. It was\u00a0<\/span>lots of<\/span>\u00a0fun.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Pupil Voice:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Brooke: We found out the names of our buddies today and we are going to meet them next week.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Kate: I really enjoyed doing the art this week and all my family were very impressed with our sculptures.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Angel: I enjoyed taking part in the\u00a0<\/span>Chooseday<\/span>\u00a0Numeracy activities because we were a<\/span>ble to make our own choices and do different things.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Michelle: I enjoyed using the drums and\u00a0<\/span>being<\/span>\u00a0taught how to\u00a0<\/span>play a tune.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Cameron: Basketball was good because we learnt some new skills.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>Maya: The World of Work website was fun<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Emily:\u00a0<\/span>Visiting\u00a0<\/span>Torness<\/span>\u00a0Power Station was really interesting and we learnt lots and we all had lots of fun.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Home Learning<\/p>\n Please ask your child to talk about their learning during the school trip to Torness Power Station.<\/p>\n Many of the children are concerned about the Coronavirus so please discuss this with your child and remember to talk about the importance of handwashing!<\/p>\n Also please ask your child if they are fully aware how to access Glow and OneNote from home, so that they can ask me next week if they have forgotten their password or login details.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Have a great weekend from P6 and Mrs Reeves<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Learning Overview Literacy We\u00a0 continued to modify and up level our discussion planning skills to enable us to write a perfect discussion next week.
