{"id":22114,"date":"2020-03-07T08:41:50","date_gmt":"2020-03-07T08:41:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/?p=22114"},"modified":"2020-03-07T08:41:50","modified_gmt":"2020-03-07T08:41:50","slug":"p2-1-update-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/2020\/03\/07\/p2-1-update-11\/","title":{"rendered":"P2\/1 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>World Book Day was a great success.\u00a0 The class engaged in different activities on Thursday to celebrate the day.\u00a0 Next week we can&#8217;t wait to hear about each child&#8217;s favourite text when they deliver their class talk that they have prepared as part of home learning over the last two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>In numeracy and maths learning this week the focus for P2\u00a0 is symmetry, for P1 they have continued their subtraction learning as well completing some symmetry activities too.\u00a0 For symmetry the children have learned about using a mirror to help them identify if an image has a line of symmetry.\u00a0 They have also had a go at completing a picture to make it symmetrical.\u00a0 One of the favourite activities this week was the digital learning that we used to support our practise of symmetry.\u00a0 Have a look at the home learning section to see the links to the games we used.<\/p>\n<p>In literacy this week we read a story called How To Grow A Dinosaur.\u00a0 This inspired us to think about what we could grow if we had some imaginary seeds that could grow anything in the world.\u00a0 There were some fabulous ideas&#8230;Mrs Currie would grow a Shoe Tree, Adam would grow a Football Tree, Isla a Glitter Plant, Lucy a Sweetie Plant and Courtney a Unicorn Tree!\u00a0 Well done to these children who were our Star Writers this week!\u00a0 When we were writing our procedures on how to plant our imaginary seeds the children were learning to use numbers to order their instructions as well as using time openers such as First, Then, Next, After and Last.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Home Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Try out some of these web links to practise symmetry.\u00a0 The programme Symmetry Drawing Peg and Cat was a HUGE favourite in the class!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pbskids.org\/peg\/games\/symmetry-painter\">https:\/\/pbskids.org\/peg\/games\/symmetry-painter<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/symmetry\/symmetry-sorting\">https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/symmetry\/symmetry-sorting<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/symmetry\/symmetry-matching\">https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/symmetry\/symmetry-matching<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pupil Voice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shay &#8211; I love outdoor learning<\/p>\n<p>Julian &#8211; I really like Peg and Cat drawing on the ipad<\/p>\n<p>Kevin &#8211; I loved having Hot Chocolate Friday<\/p>\n<p>Have a lovely weekend,<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Currie<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview World Book Day was a great success.\u00a0 The class engaged in different activities on Thursday to celebrate the day.\u00a0 Next week we can&#8217;t wait to hear about each child&#8217;s favourite text when they deliver their class talk that they have prepared as part of home learning over the last two weeks.
