{"id":19970,"date":"2018-11-09T11:44:35","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T11:44:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/?p=19970"},"modified":"2018-11-09T11:44:35","modified_gmt":"2018-11-09T11:44:35","slug":"p1d-weekly-news-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/2018\/11\/09\/p1d-weekly-news-3\/","title":{"rendered":"P1D Weekly News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Phonics<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We learned new sounds this week.<\/p>\n<p>Celine: \u2018u\u2019 sound.<\/p>\n<p>Anna: it comes from the vowel house.<\/p>\n<p>Freya: your mouth makes the same shape for \u2018u\u2019 and \u2018o\u2019 \u2013 a long tunnel.<\/p>\n<p>Carter: \u2018u\u2019 is black sound.<\/p>\n<p>Amelia: \u2018h\u2019 sound.<\/p>\n<p>Anna: it is a yellow sound.<\/p>\n<p>Pati: it is a quiet sound.<\/p>\n<p>Shea: we were writing the \u2018h\u2019 sound in the tuff tray.<\/p>\n<p>One of the activities we were doing this week was to listen for the beginning sound in a word and sort objects into groups based on the beginning sound of the word.<\/p>\n<p>Roma: we needed to put hat and hangers in the yellow tray because \u2018h\u2019 for hat and \u2018h\u2019 is a yellow sound. The bear went in the red tray because \u2018b\u2019 for bear and \u2018b\u2019 is a red sound.<\/p>\n<p>We played this game too to help us read 3 letter words:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.literactive.com\/Download\/live.asp?swf=story_files\/hanging_monkeys_US.swf\">http:\/\/www.literactive.com\/Download\/live.asp?swf=story_files\/hanging_monkeys_US.swf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are the songs we have listening to:<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zfbikhe0uyg<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KSwK7yz5hjM<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Numeracy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In number talks we used:<\/p>\n<p>Olivier: bunny ears<\/p>\n<p>Scott: 2 and 2 make 4.<\/p>\n<p>Lucas: 4 and 1 make 5.<\/p>\n<p>Shea: 5 and 1 make 6.<\/p>\n<p>We were playing lots of games this week to help develop our addition skills.<\/p>\n<p>Roma: in jenga you needed to grab one bit out and you needed to read the sum.<\/p>\n<p>Mara: count the ladybirds to make 5 spots. 1 bit of the ladybird at 3 and the other had 2. That makes 5.<\/p>\n<p>Freya: you needed to roll 2 dice and add the spots. It made the number bigger.<\/p>\n<p>Paul: on snakes and ladders you started at 1 and if ou get to 100 you won. They go bang.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roma: \u201cthe fireworks were gold. They go boom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lucas: we were drawing pictures of the fireworks in the tuff tray.<\/p>\n<p>Mara: paint was in the bag and we made fireworks pictures. Fireworks are loud.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Outdoor Learning Walk<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We created a bar graph to show what transport we saw whilst on our walk. We also spoke about transport that wasn\u2019t on our graph. We saw a mobility scotter, prams, bicycles, cars and taxis.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle: we needed to find aeroplanes and buses. When we found them we drew a tick.<\/p>\n<p>Luke: I saw an aeroplane.<\/p>\n<p>Shea: I saw vans.<\/p>\n<p>Carter: I saw 8 buses. I filled the whole column up.<\/p>\n<p>Roma: I saw 1 aeroplane. Just 1 and that\u2019s it.<\/p>\n<p>Pati: we went to the park too.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle: I liked going on the big silde.<\/p>\n<p>Rojin: I liked sliding down the slide with Roma.<\/p>\n<p>Paul: I liked swinging on the wheel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Our highlights of the week<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Igor: I liked number work. I can make 3 bunny ears.<\/p>\n<p>Luke: I liked bunny ears. I can make 5. 3 and 2 is 5.<\/p>\n<p>Layla: I liked bunny ears too. 6 is with 5 and 1 it makes 6.<\/p>\n<p>Logan: I liked number work.
