Use the link below to listen to the song for the &#8216;k&#8217; sound.<\/p>\n<p>Roma: &#8220;we learned the k sound.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Olivier: &#8220;it is a yellow sound.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Anna: \u201cit comes from the back of your mouth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anna: \u201cwe learned the \u2018ck\u2019 sound too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carter: \u201cyou use this sound at the end of a word.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freya: \u201cI made the word cat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Home Learning: Can you spell words at home where the \u2018ck\u2019 sound comes at the end of a word. Remember the rule!<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-1gyLJOpCzQ<\/p>\n<p><u>Maths<\/u><\/p>\n<p>We have been learning about measure this week. We having been using the words: big\/small, heavy\/light, empty\/fully, tall\/short in class to talk about objects. We have taken part in lots of different activities and we look forward to sharing some of these with you at our stay and play event coming soon.<\/p>\n<p>We were using balance scales to weigh objects and Shea told us the scales need \u201cto be the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We were playing with water and sand to help us develop our understanding of capacity and we were trying to use the language of full and empty. At the sink Scott told us that we were \u201cfilling up cups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When learning about height we had to order our dinosaurs.<\/p>\n<p>Celine: \u201cline up the dinosaurs and you had to put the biggest first and all the way to the smallest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We try to measure different objects using things we can find in the classroom. We used pom-poms and Roma told us that we were \u201cchecking what size things were.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Home Learning: Use this language at home when measuring different things. Challenge: we also spoke about the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> smallest or 2<sup>nd<\/sup> biggest thing; the cups which were half full or half empty etc. <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Number Talks<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Shea: \u201cwe had to make numbers using rekenreks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carter: \u201cwe made numbers with rekenreks and we had to guess how Mrs Davenport made the number.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Home Learning: Adults draw a dot pattern at home but keep number in 2 lines like this:<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-ZasFTU2J4Vo\/V3gcPZLU3TI\/AAAAAAAAGNw\/T09wAt98JOodbUepqnpDBBQBI1m8l9_SQCK4B\/s1600\/10Frame4Color.gif\" alt=\"Image result for 10 frame for 4\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Tell your child that you have 4 dots and they have to try and copy your pattern. They may make the dots a number of different ways before the guess your way. Try this with different numbers.<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Music<\/u><\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed music with Mrs Steele. Here is what we were doing this week:<\/p>\n<p>Pati: \u201csinging\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rojin: \u201cplaying some musical instruments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Mass<\/u><\/p>\n<p>We went to mass on Tuesday at St Philips.<\/p>\n<p>Lucas: \u201cwe went with our buddies to mass.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luke: \u201cwe walked to mass.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anna: \u201cwe sing songs at mass.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freya: \u201cwe listened to Father Kenneth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michelle: \u201cwe prayed to God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Topic<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Logan: \u201cwe got a letter from Trex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jane: \u201cthe letter said that he was long and had a tail and sharp teeth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roma: \u201cI was really happy when Trex came.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trex is a dinosaur (a T-Rex) who has joined our class. Trex doesn\u2019t know much about school or about the local area. We are going to help Trex settle in at school and teach him about our local area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Assembly<\/u><\/p>\n<p>We had a special assembly on Thursday to say goodbye to someone special.<\/p>\n<p>Freya: \u201cit was sad because John the Janny is going away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jane: \u201cit is called retiring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Outdoor Learning<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Outdoor learning was so much fun this week. Here are our highlights:<\/p>\n<p>Shea: \u201cwe had to make dens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amelia: \u201cwe played with the leaves that had fallen on the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roma: \u201cwe picked berries and then painted with them in the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freya: \u201cthat was yucky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luke: \u201cwe picked up sticks and leaves and we were measuring what size they were.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carter: \u201ca tree had fallen down and we had to climb over it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freya: \u201cRoma showed us a fairy house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roma: \u201cit was a fairy door in a tree.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Phonics We learned 2 new sounds this week.
