{"id":19576,"date":"2018-09-28T15:05:41","date_gmt":"2018-09-28T15:05:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/?p=19576"},"modified":"2018-09-28T20:27:17","modified_gmt":"2018-09-28T20:27:17","slug":"primary-2-3-weekly-update-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/2018\/09\/28\/primary-2-3-weekly-update-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Primary 2\/3 Weekly Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Primary 2\/3 have had a great week as we continue our learning adventure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In spelling this week P2 have explored the &#8216;ea&#8217; sound.\u00a0 They loved listening for ea sounds in a song and spotting ea words in the lyrics.\u00a0 You can listen to our ea song by clicking below &#8211; can you spot the ea sounds?\u00a0 Everyone decided that they would like to use whiteboards to reinforce their learning this week.<\/p>\n<p>Primary 3 are working on key words and this week learnt the words must, now, off, old, only, our, or and other.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xmesRaf3bCA\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-19642\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/files\/2018\/09\/ea-song-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We all wrote a story about when we visited the doctor or the dentist.\u00a0 Look out for the fabulous stories in our jotters and spot the capital letters and full stops as well as some openers and connectives.<\/p>\n<p>The Obvious Elephant was our Word Boost\u00a0 book this week and we learnt the words\u00a0confident, curious, obvious and bewildered.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone had a busy time on Thursday when we went on an adjective hunt and found a huge range of interesting adjectives in the class library.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Numeracy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This week we have continued our learning on addition and subtraction and counting to 100 for P2 and 1000 for P3.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve been ordering numbers, counting on and back and building numbers with the concrete materials.\u00a0 \u00a0The Counting Caterpillar game will help you to use your knowledge of place value to put numbers into order.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ictgames.com\/mobilePage\/countingCaterpillar\/index.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-19643\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/files\/2018\/09\/caterpillar-game-300x138.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"138\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Number Talks we&#8217;ve been working with numbers up to 20.\u00a0 How many ladybirds can you see?\u00a0 How do you know? Can you think of another way of doing it?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/files\/2018\/09\/penguin-ten-frame.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-19589\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/files\/2018\/09\/penguin-ten-frame-300x286.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"286\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Science<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have continued to explore our senses this week and went on a sensory walk on Wednesday to investigate textures in the playground.\u00a0 There was much discussion on how we could record our findings but the children decided that the iPads would work best.
