{"id":19537,"date":"2018-09-21T17:57:09","date_gmt":"2018-09-21T17:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/?p=19537"},"modified":"2018-09-21T17:57:09","modified_gmt":"2018-09-21T17:57:09","slug":"p1b-news-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/2018\/09\/21\/p1b-news-update\/","title":{"rendered":"P1B news update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Literacy<\/p>\n<p>This week we have learned 2 news sounds, the i sound and the n sound.<\/p>\n<p>We now know that<\/p>\n<p>Isla \u201cthe \u2018i\u2019 sound is a black sound.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shay- \u201cIt is black because it comes out through the tunnel of our mouth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Connor- \u201cThis sound lives at the back of our mouth in the vowel house\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Sophie- \u201cThis sound is short and bouncy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We now know that<\/p>\n<p>Lily \u201cthe \u2018n\u2019 sound is dark blue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liam- \u201cIt is dark blue because it is a noisy sound\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Emilie- \u201cThis sound is a long stretchy sound.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lucy- \u201cWe make this sound at the tip of our tongue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We could use the songs to practise our new sounds at home.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=o7GuPnhElJs<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=j-SkJfIVSXg<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Practise saying your sounds at home when looking into the mirror or use an iPad, camera or tablet to record a video of yourself saying the sounds and spelling the words (below) out loud. Listen back to your recordings!<\/p>\n<p>We have been learning to read by blending the sounds that we know together. Here are some examples of 2 letter blends am, it, ip, ma, pa, ap, in.<\/p>\n<p>Can you ask your child to spell these out at home? (You could do this with chalk, in flour, with playdough)<\/p>\n<p>We have also been learning to blend 3 letters words- nap, tap, cap, mat, mit, sip, nip. Paulo our class puppet was testing our Spanish by saying a greeting in English and then we had to say it back to him in Spanish.<\/p>\n<p>Going round our circle we all had to say Hello everyone in Spanish (Hola a todos) \u00a0\u00a0and then our friend had to say \u2018Hola \u2026\u2019 and the persons name.<\/p>\n<p>Can you practise some Spanish greetings at home?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Buenos d\u00edas- Good Morning<\/p>\n<p>Buenas tardes- Good Afternoon<br \/>\nBuenas noches- Good night<\/p>\n<p>Hola- Hello<\/p>\n<p>Adios- Goodbye<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u00a1Buenos d\u00edas! In fact some of us even built a house for Trex which he obviously loved because we are becoming expert builders and all of our constructions are highly creative. Like true builders and constructions workers we have had our safety equipment and have been using our spirit level to check that our blocks are level.
