{"id":19450,"date":"2018-09-14T14:15:49","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T14:15:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/?p=19450"},"modified":"2018-09-15T15:13:59","modified_gmt":"2018-09-15T15:13:59","slug":"primary-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/2018\/09\/14\/primary-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Primary 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hola everyone!<\/p>\n<p>Another busy week in Primary 3!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>St Ninian\u2019s Feast Day Mass<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well done to the boys and girls in Primary 3 who behaved impeccably during our mass which was celebrated by Fr Kenneth this morning.\u00a0 They definitely deserved their longer break time!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Ninian\u2019s Natter<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thank you so much to those who were able to manage along to our Ninian\u2019s Natter and Meet the Teacher evening. It was really lovely to meet all of you and we hope you enjoyed it.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Science<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Primary 3 have came up with some ideas of their own when learning\u00a0 about skeletons after the September break.\u00a0 Mrs Scott was amazed at what the children know already!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0Literacy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WORD BOOST \u2013 Our Word Boost story this week was The Obvious Elephant. The Word Boost words are confident, curious, obvious and bewildered. Due to next week \u00a0being a shorter school week, we will have a revision week where we consolidate the Word Boost words covered in Six Dinner Sid and Baby Brains.<\/p>\n<p>In writing, we continued to use Flat Stanley as our context for learning. Building on our newspaper\u00a0 report from last week, we wrote another report but this time it had bullet points. We wrote about\u00a0 the advantages and disadvantages of being flat.<\/p>\n<p>In spelling, we have been practising our key words \u2013 these are words which we come across lots of times during reading and writing. We sometimes need to use a strategy\u00a0 to help us remember how to spell\u00a0 them \u00a0eg\u00a0 Does it look right? OR Words inside words.<\/p>\n<p><em>Here are some of our thoughts<\/em><u>.<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Sahara &#8211; I liked listening to the Word Boost story.<\/p>\n<p>Amber \u2013 I liked the part of the story where Eric got to ride on top of the elephant.<\/p>\n<p>Stefan \u2013 I liked interviewing Flat Stanley to find out what he liked and didn\u2019t like about being flat. It was fun!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Maths Week Challenges<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These were a big success!<\/p>\n<p>Kerr \u2013 I liked the coloured square challenge because it was interesting.<\/p>\n<p>Ephraim \u2013 I liked adding up the coins in our Role Play shop to pay for things.<\/p>\n<p>Leigha \u2013 I made triangles and diamond shapes with the elastic band shapes. It was fun.<\/p>\n<p>SUMDOG LOGINS<\/p>\n<p>Our Primary 3 class is now set up and most of the children should now have their Sumdog logins glued into their green diaries for easy reference.
