{"id":19425,"date":"2018-09-14T10:40:48","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T10:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/?p=19425"},"modified":"2018-09-14T10:40:48","modified_gmt":"2018-09-14T10:40:48","slug":"p2-weekly-blog-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/2018\/09\/14\/p2-weekly-blog-2\/","title":{"rendered":"P2 Weekly Blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has been a hard working week in P2, here is an overview of our learning this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Numeracy<\/strong> \u2013 Maths week has been a real success!\u00a0 The children had so much fun and great learning experiences using all the maths games and activities set up in our area.\u00a0 They were able to explore numbers in a wide variety of contexts for example in our \u2018Ninian Shop\u2019, Snakes and Ladders and a range of building and counting games.\u00a0 They also explored shape through the use of pin boards and 2D shapes to make patterns and pictures. \u00a0\u00a0In class we have continued to develop our knowledge and understanding of double digit numbers up to 99.\u00a0\u00a0 We have been learning how to make a double digit number ten more and ten less by using the place value system.\u00a0 We have been using cubes, counting beads and 100 squares to help us do this.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/files\/2018\/09\/100-square.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19433\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/files\/2018\/09\/100-square.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"172\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>At home you can practise counting forward and backwards in tens to 100 and for some extra practise try these at home,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is ten more than 40? \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What is ten less than 80?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is ten more than 23?\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 What is ten less than 65?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy <\/strong>\u2013 The common words that we have focused on this week are, <strong><em>have, him, his, new<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>my. <\/em><\/strong>We had a lot of fun using a variety of different activities to help us learn to read and spell these words such as finger painting, chalk writing, word processing and play dough writing. <strong>Can you think of any other ways to learn these spellings?<\/strong>\u00a0 This week we wrote our instructions about looking after a dog and the children all had some great ideas.\u00a0 Next week we will conclude our Charlie and Lola focus by reading the story <em>Whoops, It Definitely Wasn\u2019t Me<\/em>.\u00a0 From this we will write a personal story about a time when we have broken something by accident and we will try to include some detail about what, when and how in our story.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health And Wellbeing<\/strong> \u2013 This week in PE we played a brilliant game which has been helping us learn to throw a bean bag\/ball accurately, <strong>ask your child to explain the game to you.\u00a0 <\/strong>Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday.\u00a0 We have been continuing with our Ready, Respectful and Safe charter in class to help us be the best we can be, and the children are all really trying their very best, the Smile Chart is full every day!\u00a0 It was also great to spend time with some of our parents and family during Ninian\u2019s Natter which was the children\u2019s first chance to share their learning experiences and successes.<\/p>\n<p>Have a lovely holiday weekend,<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Currie<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has been a hard working week in P2, here is an overview of our learning this week.
