{"id":16853,"date":"2017-05-26T16:54:32","date_gmt":"2017-05-26T16:54:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/?p=16853"},"modified":"2017-05-26T16:54:32","modified_gmt":"2017-05-26T16:54:32","slug":"awesome-p3-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/2017\/05\/26\/awesome-p3-30\/","title":{"rendered":"AWESOME P3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Good afternoon from Primary 3!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have had another really busy week and here are some of our highlights!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>RE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Primary 3 were learning about the Feast of the Ascension and behaved beautifully during our Mass at the Lanthorn on Thursday. They really enjoyed listening to the Primary 4s who shared their special Communion hymn with us.<\/p>\n<p><em>Jack \u2013 \u2018It was perfection!\u2019\u00a0 Emma \u2013 \u2018It was good because they all tried their best.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>During the month of May we have also continued our learning about Our Lady and the importance of saying the Rosary prayer regularly. \u00a0We now know that she appeared to St Bernadette in Lourdes, France and the three children in Fatima, Portugal \u2013 Mrs Scott has promised to bring in special photos from Fatima because her oldest son Matthew was there for the 100<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary celebrations recently! \u00a0The children have also been able to use their individual Rosary beads, received as a special gift this week &#8211; practising moving along one bead at a time to say the different prayers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>LITERA<em>CY<\/em><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Writing \u2013<\/em>\u00a0 \u2018We loved writing about Humpty Dumpty because we got to use our imagination and we could all write different stories about what happened to him. It was up to us to decide what he was doing before he went on the wall, why he was on the wall, how he managed to fall off the wall and what happened next!\u2019 \u2013 Emily &amp; Niamh.<\/p>\n<p>The children had some fantastic ideas about why Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall \u2013 they really entertained me on Thursday!<\/p>\n<p>He was trying to fly; He was pulling his socks up and fell over; He was trying to catch a butterfly: He was watching a parade and was leaning forward to see more closely; He was reaching for an apple from a tree. <em>Brilliant aren\u2019t they?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Reading \u2013 \u2018<\/em>It was fun getting to read two books on the netbook then find the answers to the questions all by myself. One of them was about Chameleons and the other one was about a type of hippo!\u2019 \u2013 Orla; \u2018It was good to do this on my own because I wouldn\u2019t normally read those kinds of books.\u2019 \u2013 Emma; \u2018They were non-fiction books.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>GLOBAL GOALS \u2013 Having a\u00a0 Quality Education<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thank you for all the foodbank pictures as our class collage is now complete<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cameron \u2013 \u2018We were learning about schools in Africa this week and some schools don\u2019t even have any fences around them.\u2019 Teegan \u2013 \u2018I liked seeing how happy the children were when they got a better school.\u2019 Kate \u2013 \u2018They didn\u2019t have any classrooms and had to do their work outside.\u2019 Michael \u2013 \u2018The country in Africa we looked at was Ethiopia.\u2019 Orla \u2013 \u2018When they got new toilets they were outside.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>SCIENCE <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sophie YM \u2013 \u2018I learned that the Earth spins round and round. When the sun shines on one side of the Earth, it means that it is daytime there and where it doesn\u2019t shine that means it is night-time.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Maliha \u2013 \u2018It takes 24 hours for the Earth to spin around and that is why we have 24 hours in a day.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>ART<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Emma \u2013 \u2018It was really interesting making my McCoo Highland Cow. I hadn\u2019t used oil pastels before.\u2019 Richard \u2013 \u2018We learned that we had to use different colours for the stripes and draw them from the top to the bottom.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>EVERYONE &#8211;\u00a0 \u2018We learned that the man who made these pictures is an artist and his name was Steve McCoo.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>MATHS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ve learned in Measure that you can use different things to measure with.\u2019 \u2013 Emma; \u2018You use scales to measure weight and we were reading kg.\u2019 \u2013 Daniel; Emily \u2013 \u2018We were reading different scales about kg.\u2019 Richard \u2013 \u2018When the arrow is in the middle of two numbers it means \u00bd.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy what is left of the sunshine!<\/p>\n<p>From Mrs Scott and Primary 3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good afternoon from Primary 3!
