Primary 3 have had a very busy week<\/p>\n
Here are some of their highlights\u2026<\/p>\n
RE \u2013 Sacramental Preparation<\/u><\/p>\n
Fr Kenneth paid us a very important and lovely visit yesterday as part of our P3 Sacramental journey towards making our First Reconciliation in March.\u00a0 The children discussed some of the important stories \u2013 \u2018The Lost Coin\u2019, \u2018The Father & Two Sons\u2019 and \u2018The Lost Sheep\u2019 which show God\u2019s love for us. The boys and girls were able to confidently give examples of actions that show love and actions which don\u2019t. Fr also told us that he is going on a well-deserved holiday to Jerusalem soon so we will look forward to hearing all about it when he comes back.<\/p>\n
Maths (Money)<\/u><\/p>\n
Learning about equivalence – \u00a0many 1ps, 2ps, 5ps and 10ps are in given amounts of money. Really quite tricky\u2026 but loved being able to use real coins.<\/p>\n
\u2018I liked using different coins to make different amounts \u2013 it was fun using REAL money!\u2019 \u2013 Emma<\/em><\/p>\n \u2018I liked adding the money up in Maths\u2019 \u2013 Sophie YM<\/em><\/p>\n ART<\/u><\/p>\n \u2018I loved making Egyptian bracelets\u2019 \u2013 Ethan \u2018I loved making my own bracelet especially as finding out what Egyptians wore was something I wanted to learn\u2019 – Emily<\/em><\/p>\n Literacy<\/u><\/p>\n P3 were super this week at singing their VCOP song which is always part of our writing warm up!<\/p>\n The storybook \u2018Prince Cinders\u2019 was a big hit as a context for \u00a0writing, reading comprehension and listening and talking. Our writing focus was using interesting openers as well as still including a connective to write longer sentences. Super focus too! The children also worked in pairs or small groups, asking and answering different types of comprehension questions to show their understanding of the story.<\/p>\n \u2018Prince Cinders story was funny and it was fun to write about it\u2019 \u2013 Sophie R, Kate, Niamh<\/p>\n \u2018I liked drawing my pictures first in my plan and then writing about it because it helped me remember what I was writing\u2019 \u2013 Emma<\/p>\n Music<\/u><\/p>\n Last week, we had a special visit from NYCOS\u00a0 where we learned that the pulse <\/em>in music is a steady beat. We also practised this funny rhyme<\/em> when clapping to help us with rhythm<\/em> too:<\/p>\n \u2018Coca-cola went to town\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n \u2018Pepsi-cola knocked him down\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n \u2018Dr Pepper fixed him up\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n \u2018Turned him into 7-up\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n Roots of Empathy<\/u><\/p>\n We had a really interesting session this morning where P3 learned about ways of keeping a baby safe, especially once a baby has started to grab things, crawl and walk. We impressed Mrs Brutin with our sensible contributions and our good examples of real life situations which demonstrated our understanding. We also had an informative discussion about the importance of keeping a baby safe in mummy\u2019s tummy before it is born \u2013 the boys and girls displayed a very good insight into the dangers of smoking and drinking alcohol.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n P3-7 Show<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n P3 have worked so hard this week \u00a0and have been fantastic at learning our songs with actions.
