{"id":14019,"date":"2016-12-02T12:42:16","date_gmt":"2016-12-02T12:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/?p=14019"},"modified":"2016-12-02T12:42:16","modified_gmt":"2016-12-02T12:42:16","slug":"p76-working-hard-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/2016\/12\/02\/p76-working-hard-2\/","title":{"rendered":"P7\/6 working hard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week we have focused on Science report writing. \u00a0We used our investigation about conductors and insulators to write our report. \u00a0We learned terms such as hypothesis, apparatus and results. \u00a0Hopefully the next time we complete a science investigation we can write the report as we work.<\/p>\n<p>In maths, we have been working with percentages. \u00a0We used our number talks strategies to help us work out how much more is needed on a download percentage bar to reach 100%. \u00a0This was great fun. \u00a0The P6 children also played a game where they had to convert from a decimal number to a percentage to reach the other end of the board. \u00a0To help us with all of this learning we used the following site. \u00a0Have a go yourself with this site and blog a reply as to how you got on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visnos.com\/demos\/percentage-fraction-decimals-grid\">http:\/\/www.visnos.com\/demos\/percentage-fraction-decimals-grid<\/a><\/p>\n<p>P7 children extended their learning by finding a way of converting a fraction (which did not have 100 as the denominator) into a percentage&#8230;great team work was on display. \u00a0I would say everyone gave 100% effort to their maths learning this week!<\/p>\n<p>We had two special events this week, St Andrew&#8217;s Day and the start of Advent. \u00a0Miss Smyth helped us with our learning about St Andrew and we have been listening to traditional Scots vocabulary through the story &#8220;The Eejits&#8221; which is a retelling of the story &#8220;The Twits&#8221; by Roald Dahl, Miss Smyth had everyone laughing with her amazing scottish pronunciations!<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is very excited about the countdown now, but we took sometime to think about the true meaning of Christmas and we have started to engage with our Gospel passages about the birth of Christ. \u00a0We completed some wordls in our journals to represent all the important words and messages that we can use in our prayers during advent.<\/p>\n<p>Have a lovely weekend,<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Currie<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week we have focused on Science report writing. \u00a0We used our investigation about conductors and insulators to write our report. \u00a0We learned terms such as hypothesis, apparatus and results. \u00a0Hopefully the next time we complete a science investigation we can write the report as we work.
