{"id":13676,"date":"2016-11-11T18:10:26","date_gmt":"2016-11-11T18:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/?p=13676"},"modified":"2016-11-11T18:11:04","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T18:11:04","slug":"saving-the-planet-in-p2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/2016\/11\/11\/saving-the-planet-in-p2\/","title":{"rendered":"Saving the Planet in P2!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has been another busy week in P2!<br \/>\nIn maths we have been understanding the language of about when measuring.<\/p>\n<p>Vanessa- We have been measuring with cubes.<\/p>\n<p>Lennon- \u201cWe measured a book, a ruler, a cereal box and a pencil.<\/p>\n<p>Aaron- The longest was the cereal box.<br \/>\nWe have enjoyed using the cubes to measure the different objects this week and discussing the differences in lengths.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In writing we have wrote instructions on how to build an igloo. To stimulate our ideas for writing we watched a video clip of a man building an igloo.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"For Kids: How to Build an Igloo\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hwuv9qzrVec?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>We had to use our listening skills to take note of the steps. Our aim was to use different sentence openers.<br \/>\nWojciech- \u201cI used the the sentence opener next.\u201d<br \/>\nZoe \u201cThe word last is a good sentence opener.\u201d<br \/>\nFor topic this week we learnt about Global warming and how it impacts the Polar bears.<\/p>\n<p>We watched a video clip that explained Global warming and it told us all of the ways we can help to stop the ice melting.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Global Warming - Educational Video For Kids\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E6zW43U7yqM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Wojciech- \u201cI have learnt different ways we can stop global warming and help the Polar Bears.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Angelina- \u201cIt is important to remember to turn off the electricity when you do not need it. Turn off your lights and tv.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lilly- \u201cRemember you can cycle instead of driving everywhere. Turn off the car engine!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ava- \u201cRemember to recycle. Put your waste in the right bin. We use green, black, blue and red bins in school.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After watching the video we made our own poster to share this information. Our posters are on our North Pole display wall, hopefully people will read our posters and help save the Polar bears too!<\/p>\n<p>In art with Mrs Thomson we have been creating our very own Train Conductor masks. To make the mask we painted the different parts and then placed them all together. We sneaked back into the classroom after art with our masks over our face to surprise Miss Boyes.<br \/>\nOur masks are displayed on the wall for everyone to see! Miss Boyes thought\u00a0that instead of the children returning from art lots of little train conductors had came to visit her because the masks look so realistic.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/files\/2016\/11\/IMG_5297.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13687\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/stniniansps\/files\/2016\/11\/IMG_5297-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"img_5297\" width=\"483\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In PE we have shown that we can commit to be fit! We have continued to work hard at our circuit training.
